Upsets galore in 1 blue north this week – The Knights put the Swans to the sword on their home ground grabbing their first win in Style 8-0, South Perth also put another bird in danger this time it was the Rea Tails turn to feel the South Perth grunt. Those two games cost me in my tipping coming in the standard 3/5 result thanks to The View , The Roo’s and The Lions well done on some good Solid wins. I did hear a whisper there was an 8-badge handed out in one of the games but more on that just below in my report.
BASSENDEAN 89 (6) v YOKINE 67 (2)
Madigan, Peter 11 v Coffey, Wayne 21
Erceg, Michael 25 v Morrison, William 13
Krstic, Jovan 35 v Kay, Anthony 12
O'Sullivan, Eugene 18 v McGillivray, Trevor 21

Bassendean got the job done in good style here and Yokine were far from disgraced. Big wins to Mick Erceg , Hutchy , Lloyd McKay ( down from PL ) and had a great day out from all reports and the ever reliable Mike Bessant winning by 12 shots over Billy Morrison’s rink , the other big winner for Basso was Joe Krstic and his crew of Tricky Travy Lynch , Wayne “Davo “Davidson and the General Normy Kirkup getting the job done by a whopping 23 Shots – outstanding effort. Wayne Coffey was superb for Yokine and I have it on good authority was a thorn in the Basso boys side all day winning by 10 and Mcgillgrav was the other winner for Yokine ensuring they got the two points to take back home. Here is some inside info from the match report that will make a few of us have a chuckle - Joe Krstic and his rink got an 8 against Tony Kay. Krstic was holding 3 when Kay drove and somehow drove all their bowls out of the head! - Ouch that explains some of the score line right there. Well done to Basso.
Bassendean 8-0 – Result Basso 6-2

CAMBRIDGE 100 (8) v SWAN 64 (0)
Brown, Ryan 22 v Natalotto, Tony 13
Byres, Ashley 29 v Southern, Alan 22
Buckley, Stephen 27 v Tibbles, George 11
Hughes, David 22 v Park, David 18

It got ugly last week for Swan and even uglier this week with the Knights ramming home a big sold 8 to grab their first win in very good style. No matter what Swan through at the Knights 16 they took it and gave it back with some interest. Ryan Brown by 11 in his Swan song for Cambridge was simply brilliant against a very good skip in Tony Natalotto , the other big winner was Steve Buckley by 16 shots over 1 Blues reigning skip George Tibbles who must have been thinking why did they change my rink !! David Hughes was very good against a fighting David Park who try as he might just could not get in front mainly due to the outstanding game of Ed Leahy who was simply superb as was Ashly Byres who had a tight tussle with Al Southern but finally broke away in the last few ends to grab a solid win. Well done to the Knights on an outstanding home win.
Swan 6-2 Result The Knights 8-0

DOUBLEVIEW 82 (6) v KALAMUNDA 68 (2)
Langdon, Winton 22 v Olive, Wayne 13
McKenna, Christopher 21 v Cooper, Rodney 14
Johnson, Edward 19 v Gosstray, Stewart 20
Herriot, Guy 20 v Bartlett, Arthur 21

Doubleview got the job done for me against a very good Kalamunda side who seemed to be up and about for the fight but just couldn’t get the rink match up’s they really needed if they were ever going to beat The View at home. Winton Langdon made up for a slow start to the season with another win against Olive who has been white hot most weeks. The other interesting win was by Chis McKenna who also got hold of a normally very hard to beat Rod Cooper. Kalamunda didn’t leave empty handed they grabbed a very valuable points away which I’m sure will come in more than handy come season end thanks to the Stuart Gosstray and Arthur Bartlett rinks. Well done to the View on a very solid home win.
Doubleview 6-2 Result Doubleview 6-2

WANNEROO 90 (8) v ROSSMOYNE 2 64 (0)
Widermanski, Echo 19 v White, Patrick 17
Golding, Michael 26 v Beacroft, George 16
Turra, Darren 21 v Herbert, Allan 18
Toster, Kingsley 24 v Blyth, Norman 13

The Roo’s franked last weeks good win away against Swan by pouching the whole 8 points on offer and in doing so have kick started their season in fine style. It would appear one blue is going to be a quick one for Rossmoyne 2 as they just cannot seem to bag points away from home or at home on most weeks, let’s hope they can grab another win soon. Kingsley Toster and Michael Golding were the tow big winners for The Roo’s ensuring very early that the aggregate would be safe. Michael Golding back from missing last weeks win made sure he would be part of this week’s winning by 10 shots and Toster continued his excellent form winning by 11. Good on the Roo boys great to see them complete back to back wins.
Wanneroo 7-1 Result Wanneroo 8-0

MUNDARING 66 (2) v SOUTH PERTH 77 (6)
Cox, Rex 21 v Roelofs, Bill 15
Pickles, Lindsay 19 v McRae, Michael 18
Lynch, John 15 v Santostefano, Vincent 18
Bear, Geoffrey 11 v Bandy, Denis 26

A great win by South Perth grabbing a very hard fought 6 points up the hill at Mundaring. It was Dennis Bandy and Vince Santostefano rinks that were able to hold sway particularly Bandy and his boys winning by 15 shots over last weeks big winner Geoff Bear. South Perth after 6 rounds are now the outright favourites in one blue to gain promotion to one white next year. I can see any other side gaining enough ground to over take them at the top of the ladder, perhaps Basso would be the only chance. Mundaring have had quite a difficult season compared to other seasons where they have been the dominant team in one blue. Great win by the Millers onwards and upwards for them.
Mundaring 6-2 – Result South Perth 6-2
