As usual we had a couple of upsets this last round before the Xmas break, with Leeming upsetting Rossmoyne away from home, in what I have been told was a thriller. Also Safety Bay proving to be quite inconsistent, losing to the great fighters from Vic Park in another heart stopper.
The other three games producing predictable results, with a couple of huge victories to boot.
COCKBURN 120 (8) v HILTON PARK 58 (0)
Srhoy, Steve 26 v Hunter, Robert 19
Marevich, Josip (Joe) 39 v Mcmahon, Christopher 15
TePania, William 22 v Dodd, Gary 16
Krajancic, Marko 33 v Simpson, Travis 8
A massive sixty two shot hiding to the Hawks, not something they want just before Xmas.
The Roosters proving to be unbeatable at home, with Joe Marevich and his rink thrashing new skip McMahon by twenty four shots. While the flamboyance of Marko Krajancic and his team was too much for Travis Simpson and his boys. Marko reliving the old days, playing some telling bowls, when it mattered.
All this was happening whilst the Roosters were without their top skip in Mirko Musulin. Marevich now with six wins out of six.
GOSNELLS 106 (8) v MT PLEASANT 41 (0)
Holland, Brett 22 v Welsh, Ernest 12
Innes, Doddy 34 v Maras, Tom 4
Heldt, Wayne 21 v Booth, Harry 17
Crabb, Maurice 29 v Elliss, Barry 8
This scoreline must be just about a record for this division, with the Kookaburras annihilating the Mounties by a massive sixty five shots.
The rink of Doddy Innes, Haley, Tulett and lead Mark Beauchamp amassing thirty four shots while restricting the Maras rink to just four shots. What a huge win in this division, maybe another record.
Ellis also getting whacked by the Maurice Crabb rink, by twenty one shots.
VICTORIA PARK CARLISLE 76 (7) v SAFETY BAY 72 (1)
Simms, Michael 21 v Hall, Ron 20
Butler, Wayne 22 v Carruthers, Chris 17
Johnson, Robert 15 v Kennedy, Raymond 22
Florance, David 18 v Daddow, Alan 13
The Reds knocking the Bay boys off top spot with an absolute cliffhanger at home. All matches were fairly close contests, with the only winner for the visitors, being the ever reliable Ray Kennedy and his rink of Thorington, Taylor, and Ogg.
A good seven points to the home side in their quest to avoid the demotion zone.A good seven points to the home side in their quest to avoid the demotion zone.
The Simms rink getting up by one shot at the finish, with Simms himself playing a blinder I believe.
MELVILLE 68 (1) v THORNLIE 96 (7)
White, Geoffrey 21 v Churcher, Tony 39
Regan, Dwain 10 v Beckwith, Gary 21
Randall, Melvyn 21 v Sewell, Glenn 16
Leahy, Travis 16 v Francisco, John 20
I did pick the Ravens to come right, and maybe they have now turned the corner, after a slow start.
No Glynn Vaughan for Thornlie, not sure what is happening there, and Rewell not skipping, but they would be well pleased to pick up seven points away from home.
Geoff White not having a good season, getting belted by eighteen shots by Tony Churcher and his rink. Churcher would be well pleased with the result, in his first game skipping.
ROSSMOYNE 1 74 (1) v LEEMING 77 (7)
Gollan, Edward 21 v Alberti, Tyrone 13
Lang, Rawley 16 v Ford, Gary 17
Green, Daniel 19 v Vandersluys, Karl 27
Petchell, Allan 18 v Newton, James 20
My source tell me that this was a great contest between two near rivals, both hotly contesting the top four.
Only three shots in the aggregate at the finish, had the onlookers keenly interested, and barracking hard for the Rivers Rats.
But the rink of Vandersluys proving to be the big difference with a good win of eight shots over Danny Green.
Ed Gollan proving he has a big future with an eight shot win over Alberti. Gollan now with six wins out of eight, with a handy plus sixty shots.
