Round 6 already, 33% of the season about to be completed and still wide open with a lot of questions. Tonights game is fascinating on so many levels, 1st vs 3rd. We have the White promotees, who has adjusted to Premier League the best? Kardinya trying to find some form travel to Basso, Cambridge travel to Warnbro and Manning take on Osborne Park trying to win their first game at home.
SOUTH PERTH v DOUBLEVIEW Friday 6.30pm

J Slavich, B Brandsma, R Haring, J Barry
INS: No change
OUTS:

Some controversy surrounding this game as the unavailability of Justin Opie and Ash Sharp for this Friday night game means they are playing on the Saturday White side which has weakened this Premier League team no doubt. Any suggestion it was a ploy from South Perth to win some points in White is crazy, but a please explain letter has been sent to South Perth. Ash Sharp is working and Justin is attending his Mum's 70th birthday dinner with family. Not sure anything will come of it, but it makes tomorrows White game very interesting with that sub plot.
But on to this game, Nick Reagan in for the unavailable Opie, no change at Doubleview who are killing the pig at the moment. Top of the ladder, last 2 weeks have been full counts as well and they are flying but they travel to South Perth on a Friday night. The Millers had a horror start to the year but have settled and won their 2 past games to sit 3rd on the ladder.
So who wins? I wish I had better stats on South Perths Friday night record, they did lose earlier against North Beach in a cracking game, Doubleview are stronger than North Beach and South Perth weaker than that night game, so it all points to a Doubleview win and they should remain top of the table after this fixture. It should be a great game and I encourage people to support these Friday night games and get down to South Perth where they will be serving up some burgers for purchase on the night.
Doubleview 7-1

OUTS:

The battle of the promoted teams. Both teams have been very competitive so far, 2 wins each and sitting 7th and 8th but the winning team will put themselves into the finals hunt, the loser will be starting to get nervous as that dreaded 9th spot will loom large. No change at Mosman Park which took it right up to Bassendean last week, unknown changes at North Beach
Mosman Park did win both games last year but it was a slightly stronger Mosman Park team, in fact one of those skippers Paul Walker now playing at North Beach, so I think they have evened out a bit to each other. Despite Mosman Park beating Doubleview 3 weeks ago, North Beach has also beaten the other finalist from last year in South Perth. North Beach started the year strongly, Mosman Park have taken a couple of weeks to get going. Based on last weeks games I think Mosman Park may be slightly ahead in form, based on the years form, North Beach would be in front.
So who to select? Tough game, it really is, but I will be going for the home side here, North Beach to win a tight game.
North Beach 6-2

BASSENDEAN v KARDINYA

OUTS:

My clubs game, and we are travelling pretty well early in the season, our wins havent been large but they have been wins and some them gutsed out as we have come from well behind so that sets our season up nicely. Kardinya such a disrupted start to the year but it looks like things have settled down now, no change again for them 2 weeks in a row which helps a lot. For Bassendean our in form skipper and third David Rhodes and Linton Pike unavailable, their spots taken by Ruauri Kenyon who returns from injury and Paul Harber who gets his first game of the year in the PL after playing all year last year in this division.
I still believe Kardinya has one of the better teams on paper and will still make finals in my opinion but to do that they really need to win Saturdays game. I have looked at my records and I can't see Kardinya winning at Bassendean since they were promoted in 2013 so it is imposing home record for Bassendean against Kardinya. It is a surprising record but records are made to be broken. I hope it's not this week! We are weakened with our outs, Chris Margin did have a good record last year when asked to skipper, our ins are very good players
I'm positive we can win this game but another where it won't be easy, Kardinya will throw everything at us but we have shown we can hang tough and hopefully it will be enough to hang on.
Basso of course!

MANNING v OSBORNE PARK

K Pickering, T Ingram, R Brown, M Rollings
C Packer, J East, E Martin, M Kitto
INS: No change
OUTS:

Manning at home and looking to improve their pretty woeful home record, they did change greens last week without success but with a week under their belt I'm sure they will present a stronger proposition. Osborne Park really gelling after a couple of lean weeks to start their 2020 campaign and they are starting to look a scary proposition. No change for them while at Manning Steve Withers and Lewis Grigg welcome additions as they turn out possibly their strongest side for the year, Ken Jolly and Graham O'Brien making way for their ins.
This is quite a tricky little game. Manning the great squad but low on form, Osborne Park high on form without the calibre of player at Manning. As they say a champion team will beat a team of champions, and Manning need to start playing like a team otherwise their year is nearly over. A crunch game for them, they need to find that winning form. This will be their 4th game at home in 6 weeks and while their home form sux, they won't want to rely on away form later in the year to get them into finals. Osborne Park with 3 wins in a row will be extremely confident of making this a 4th win
Another tough game to select, but I will take a punt and will go for Manning to turn their season around with a good win at home
Manning 6-2

WARNBRO v CAMBRIDGE

WARNBRO
L Strange, C Biddle, L Kellow, D Wagstaff

CAMBRIDGE
L Strahan, B Nairn, N Bolton, M Bolton
S Perica, N Lewis, D Jones, D Leeson
R Bolton, C Harris, A Foster, L Bolton
P Harris, S Rushforth, C Wooldridge, H Christensen
INS: R Bolton
OUTS: G Allen

Our final game sees Cambridge on the bus to Warnbro in a game they will be expecting to win but you can never discount Warnbro at home completely, despite their weakened status this year they still have a nice home ground advantage. Unknown changes at Warnbro although I think we'll see Conor Biddle skippering at some stage again this year. Cambridge still with no Clive Adams, but they do have Ross Bolton to take that rink and skipper this week. Grant Allen the yo-yo this year goes back down.
The advantage Cambridge gained at the start of the year has been eroded wit their losses from the past 2 weeks, so they will be keen to chalk up this win and get back on the winning wagon. Their 2 losses were against last years grand finalists so not all bad but it was last weeks that hurt with no rink wins and at home as well. Warnbro have won 5 rinks in 5 weeks and with no Adams they will be viewing this game as one they can win, but last week was the first game they havent scored in a game, so they have been able to get some points in a re-building year to prepare for White next year. It seems a no brainer they will be there, but no reason to think they won't win a game or 2 this year still
Cambridge to win, not easily but a solid enough victory to get them back on track
Cambridge 7-1
