What a fascinating round we had. Two yet to win teams break the drought, two undefeated rinks suffer their first loss, and two crushing defeats against teams expected to fight out for finals. Congratulations to both Stirling and Wanneroo for getting on the board, the size of the victories impressive. After four rounds we have one undefeated side which is looking awesome, seven teams on two wins and three teams on one win, a tight competition is a good competition
YOKINE 75 (7) v MT LAWLEY 63 (1)
Anthony Kay 15 v Anthony Einfeld 22
Trevor McGillivray 22 v Mark Masel 12
Bradley Morrison 20 v Laurence Kelly 14
Shane Shaw 18 v Paul Sinden 15
In the end Mt Lawley earnt just one point courtesy of the undefeated Einfeld rink in a very good showing away from home against a likely top 4 side, Mt Lawley are on their way to proving they belong in 1 Blue. Seven points to Yokine with the McGillivray rink winning by 10 against the previously unbeaten Masel rink, while the other two rinks won close contests that could have gone either way.
WANNEROO 93 (7) v NORTH BEACH 64 (1)
Martin Nievelstein 29 v John Bartorillo 12
Graham White 14 v Richard Hunter 17
Gary Scorer 24 v Lee Mitten 19
Rod Beazley 26 v Peter Augustson 16
Wanneroo not only won but they won very comfortably in the end by 29 shots. The victory was not a surprise, Wanneroo have been very competitive, in its other games this year, the size of the win was. Well done Wanneroo. North Beach are not at level expected but they do have good players and we expect them to bounce back.
SWAN 94 (8) v MUNDARING 55 (0)
Alan Southern 22 v John Doncon 14
Phillip Park 24 v Rex Cox 16
David Park 22 v Lindsay Pickles 13
Ian Cornthwaite 26 v Geoffrey Bear 12
A result that all but beggars belief. Yes Swan is a good team but as is Mundaring so a win on all rinks to the tune of 39 shots, it must have been a powerful team performance by the Swan boys. Perhaps home ground advantage played a part, nether the less it was an awesome performance by Swan. The Southern rink inflicted the first loss of the season on the Doncon rink, with none of the other rinks a close, a resounding victory to Swan.
QUINNS ROCKS 100 (8) v DOUBLEVIEW 61 (0)
Martin Hinchcliffe 35 v Gary Nelson 9
John Berecz 21 v Winton Langdon 17
Brian Axford 23 v Christopher McKenna 17
Rohan Cantrill 21 v Guy Herriot 18
The Quinns machine rolls along defeating a good Doubleview side on all rinks with a big 39 point aggregate win. The size of the win was aided by the Hinchcliffe's four massive 26 point win over the previously unbeaten Nelson rink as the other rinks were close, as it was expected all rinks would be. Two games clear at the top for Quinns, they are looking the goods.
STIRLING 81 (6) v KALAMUNDA 68 (2)
Sonny Franich 15 v Wayne Olive 19
Paul Kelly 15 v Arthur Bartlett 21
Mane (Mick) Marovic 28 v Peter Townsend 13
Nick Yaksich 23 v Rodney Cooper 15
Stirling had been winning rinks it is just that a blow out rink had cost them aggregate in previous games. Today Stirling had the big win with the Marovic beating the Townsend rink by 15 along with the Yaksich rink winning by 8 the aggregate was going to always be Stirling's despite solid wins by the Cooper and Bartlett rinks. No doubt they celebrated long and hard at Stirling if they continue to play to this level they may have a chance to hold 1 Blue.
