The consequence of a couple of upsets means1 Blue is a wide open competition with just 5 points covering first to sixth. Looking as if they would dominate in the early rounds Quinns, after two successive defeats, is now holding onto top position by percentage only from the most consistent Yokine, with Swan just 1/2 point behind.

John Berecz 17 v Anthony Einfeld 23
Barry Crawford 14 v Mark Masel 22
Brian Axford 14 v Laurence Kelly 18
Martin Hinchcliffe 25 v Paul Sinden 18
A magnificent performance by Mt Lawley at Quinns to claim 7 points. The draw worked, the two undefeated rinks, Berecz and Einfeld were matched, the only rink yet to taste defeat now in the one led by Einfeld. With a new front end the Kelly rink were too good for the strong Axford rink and Masel and his rink continue on their merry way. The Hinchcliffe rink were too good for the Sinden four to claim Quinns sole pointA magnificent performance by Mt Lawley at Quinns to claim 7 points. SWAN 89 (6) v NORTH BEACH 79 (2)
Alan Southern 23 v Steven Wattleworth 15
Phillip Park 18 v Peter Augustson 26
David Park 34 v Gary Gregson 11
Ian Cornthwaite 14 v Gavin Crosthwaite 27
A strange game with big margins across all games. A massive 23 shot victory by the David Park rink made North Beach's taste of winning aggregate all but impossible. Swan is now top 3 while North Beach is relegation territory in 9th position, it was a promising sign that the Augustson and Crosthwaite rinks had big wins. Tough ahead for the Beach Boys with Quinns at home and Doubleview away in the next two weeks.
DOUBLEVIEW 63 (2) v MUNDARING 85 (6)
Gary Nelson 17 v Rex Cox 14
Guy Herriot 21 v John Doncon 18
Michael Mckeague 13 v Lindsay Pickles 27
Edward Johnson 12 v Geoffrey Bear 26
A result that I would have though not possible, Mundaring are good but the experience and quality of the Doubleview side and home ground advantage, I think most would not have picked them to win. Mundaring, fresh from inflicting Quinns first loss obviously came to play and play they did. Big wins by the Pickles and Bear rinks and close losses by the other two rinks resulted in a 22 shot win to Mundaring. A few weeks ago Doubleview beat Swan at home and Swan beat Mundaring by 39 shots at home, gee tipping is very difficult.
STIRLING 61 (1.5) v WANNEROO 78 (6.5)
Nick Yaksich 14 v Pieter Geus 23
Mane (Mick) Marovic 17 v Martin Nievelstein 16
Unplayed 12 v Kingsley Toster 21
Sonny Franich 18 v Rod Beazley 18
Wanneroo have made it very hard for Stirling to avoid automatic relegation with a nice 17 shot win away. Nine shot wins to the Geus and Toster rinks more that overcame narrow losses on the Nievelstein and Beazley rinks. Wanneroo sit 51/2 points clear of 9th position and if they continue to play as they have they will have a good chance of avoiding automatic relegation.
YOKINE 80 (7) v KALAMUNDA 68 (1)
Shane Shaw 20 v Arthur Bartlett 17
Anthony Kay 19 v Peter Townsend 12
Bradley Morrison 28 v Wayne Olive 21
Trevor McGillivray 13 v Rodney Cooper 18
The ever consistent Yokine continue to win the games they should win and now sit equal first on the ladder. Good wins by the Kay and Morrison rinks set up the victory and with Wanneroo and Stirling to come it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Yokine sit top of the ladder at the break. Kalamunda are at the start of a hard draw with Swan and Quinns to follow and could remain bottom four.
