Business half is upon us and what a round of first up matches we have. The battle for the top of the ladder is really down to four sides as I see it , with two of them the most favoured to grab the automatic promotion those being – Mt Lawley & Yokine the other two Sorrento & North Beach will be waiting to swoop should both Mt Lawley or Yokine slip up in anyway. Some tasty matches to kick us of in round 10.

L Mitten, S Richards, R Munday, B Palfrey INS: T Jones, S Richards, R Hutchinson OUTS: B Abrahamson, A Schrauf, T Bannon
Joondalup have been fantastic and they are capable of beating any side in the comp on any given day such is there depth of talent. North Beach have been superb in the first half and are much the same. The Joondalup side for mine just go a little deeper than North Beach and for that reason I’ll pick then to win at home quite easily.
Joondalup 7-1
MT LAWLEY v MANNING
MT LAWLEY

A Taylor, J Angel, P Bowden, P Gatti
B Jeppesen, A Booth, D McCloskey, J Evans
P Gillespie, G Ginbey, D Griffiths, R Pears INS: S Adams, P Bowden OUTS: L Moulton, A Martin
This seems to be an opportunity for the Mounters to grab a bag full of points to kick off their season in style although manning is a mixed bag, they did knock off North Beach so can cause the odd upset if complacency kicks in at any stage of the match. Mt Lawley will be aware of this and will be wanting to really kick the second half of the season with a big win - which I think they will.
Mt Lawley 8-0

This is going to be a great match, The View are much better at home and have pushed the top sides all the way, Yokine sit top of the tree for a reason they are strong all across the board and have loads of experience back and front end. The View will fancy themselves in this one and I do as well. This is my upset of the round match and I’m going to go with The View in what will be a massive upset in one blue. The View to make it a great start to the season in a close one.
Doubleview 6-2
SWAN v MUNDARING

L Pickles , N Marsh, K Green, W Johnson
R Cox, M Critchell, T Watson, P Rhodes
G Bear, D Gavin, D Carter, M Bending INS: N Marsh, R Coumbe, K Green OUTS: T Smith, C Reynolds, K Warne
Swan get the chance to kick start their season at home in what looks like a very winnable match for them. I know I sound like a broken record but Mundaring do struggle away from home and although they never get beaten by much, they just can’t seem to be in front on the big board at any time. Swan for me they nearly got Yokine in the last match of the season on their home turf, they would only have to reproduce that effort to win this one.
Swan 7-1
MORLEY v SORRENTO
MORLEY
W Mitchell, T Dawson, B Driscoll, C Hamilton
M Callcott, V Orchard, W Hinchcliffe, K Engelen
K Nazareth, L Spinks, G Grieve, G Pinto
L Sanders, M West, J Engelen, R Dunstan INS: G Pinto OUTS: P Jones
SORRENTO
L Martin, P Kain, C Grisbrook, A De Cinque
R Rogers, C Jasper, B Collins, B Kiely
R Munt, A Walton, P Crow, S Mortimer
T Murray, B Gunson, B Lucas, G Murray INS: P Kain, A de Cinque, P Crow OUTS: R Bone, S Niven, W Morrell
Another great game here, both sides more than capable of winning this game. It really is a toss of the coin. Morley are very good at home they have shown that by beating some of the top sides there, whilst Sorrento have just struggled a little away from home. With the Morley green and conditions being so similar to Sorrento I think they will adapt very quickly and go on to win this one.
