If other rounds are anything to go by, then one thing is for sure, there will be an upset or two in Round 14. However, picking that upset hasn’t been easy. But I will predict that upsets will not occur at Hilton or Leeming on Saturday. The other three games are not so easy to pick though. The stand out game would have to be the clash between the 2nd placed Manning Eagles and the 3rd placed team, the Fremantle Mariners. There could also be a very interesting encounter at Cockburn, who play the surging Kalamunda boys.

FREMANTLE v MANNING

FREMANTLE
T Krajancic, D Golem, B Ciccotosto, J Trigwell
J Stewart, M Starcevich, J Chessell, M Ngui
S McCormack, M Lindsay, B Sumich, B Wright
P Wachmer, M Gill, K Bowden, A Hocken
INS: A Hocken
OUTS: N Gaspar

MANNING
M Piggott, L Herbert, N Rees, P Barrow
A Pryce, D Mcllheney, S Salamon, B Connell
M Carey, G Hogg, A Lill, S Lambert
W Heldt, A Taylor, B Griffiths, M Hoskin
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Both of these teams are used to playing on good greens, so no real advantage to the Freo Mariners here. Each side has some good skips, Pryce, Carey, Piggott and Heldt for the Eagles. While the Mariners have the divisions leading Skip in Krajancic, also Wachmer, young McCormack and the veteran Stewart. It would appear that O’Brien and Coote, both country boys aren’t playing, a shame, but that’s the rules. It is up front that I think the Eagles will have the edge with the likes of Rees, Connell, Lill, Hiskin and company.
The Eagles won the first encounter and I think they will win this one.
Manning 6-2

LEEMING v SPEARWOOD

LEEMING
N Bennetts, G Freeman, N Shannon, D Anderson
K Vandersluys, P Boys, D Johnson, W Birrell
G Ford, J Bowden, B Eather, R Bellis
J Newton, G Burgess, A Andersson, P Hickey
INS: P Boys
OUTS: L Bertei

SPEARWOOD
D Tomasich, B Yakas, J Stojan, J Galipo
K Nadilo, B Vidovich, B Dropulic, T Fiamengo
I Unkovich, T Mathein, I Dragicevich, B Bavcevic
N Sokol, M Ward, I D'Ascenzo, I Perica
INS: No changes
OUTS:

A must win game for the Lions who have been fairly inconsistent in the second part of the season. The visiting Spearwood boys have their fierce pride, but that won’t be enough to save them on Saturday at Leeming. Once again there will be some good skips in action. The Lions with the edge here though, with the likes of Ford, Newton and Vandersluys. Unkovich, Nadilo and Ivan Perica are no slouches either, for the visitors. But it is up front that the Lions will have a big advantage. Spearwood now destined for 2nd Division, with the Lions sitting in 7th spot, they need this one. Pete Boyes back for Leeming, a good inclusion.
Leeming 8-0

COCKBURN v KALAMUNDA

COCKBURN
M Simunovic, M Musulin, D Gurr, D Dobb
J Marevic, I Mateljak, D Rayner, A Edwards
W Tepania, D Ravlich, B Blagaich, D Topine
K Wylie, J Ricci, M Sokol, M Zusman
INS: D Dobb
OUTS: J Bell

KALAMUNDA
W Olive, P Townsend, H Clifford, M Thomas
A Bartlett, R Pringle, B Farrant, V Hughes
D Wooltorton, I Quayle, G McDonald, M Clancy
B Brandsma, R Cooper, T Price, T Mountford
INS: W Olive
OUTS: G Trevaskis

You would think that the Roosters would be still hurting after their controversial loss to the Eagles last week. So if they are in the right frame of mind, they should account for the visiting hillbillies from Kalamunda. The Cockburn undercover green has been a graveyard for their opposition, and I expect that to happen here. Even Brandsma might have trouble with the surface, but I think not. Simunovic versus Brandsma would be an almighty clash. Both skips have won ten of their thirteen games, only one behind Krackerjack. I note that the champion Steve Srhoy is playing for the Cockburn 3rd side now. Doesn’t seem right to me.
Cockburn 7-1

ROCKINGHAM v SOUTH PERTH

ROCKINGHAM
J Lethlean, K Tremlett, L Atkins, D Poole
B Edwards, S Wales, T Threlfall, G Roberts
M Devenny, V Arriagada, P Villa, J Laukkanen
R Costello, S Hutchinson, M Wilson, T Rubery
INS: No changes
OUTS:

SOUTH PERTH
S Kelly, G Reagan, T Percival, M Hughes
M McRae, M Petrich, F Anderson, J Percival
D Bandy, I Rennie Jnr, W Skuza, L Moretti
V Santostefano, B Roelefs, J Cook, B Owen
INS: W Skuza, M Petrich
OUTS: R Negus, D Calvo

Can the Millers continue on from last week, where they simply annihilated the Hawks. However that was at home on their familiar sand filled synthetic green, carpet at Rockingham, quite a bit different. On paper the Millers look the goods, with some very experienced bowlers, both back and front end. Hughes, Anderson, Owen, Kelly, McRae to name just a few. But, different surfaces can be quite telling, so that could be quite a leveller down at Rockingham. But, taking everything into account, I think the Millers might just scrape in.
South Perth 6-2

HILTON PARK v THORNLIE

HILTON PARK
C Standley, R Hunter, B Smith, T Maxwell
T Simpson, Daniel Newton, Dave Newton, R Fortini
R Foy, G Dodd, L Onley Jnr, R Butler
H McKay, C McMahon, K Willis, S Farrell
INS: Daniel Newton
OUTS: P Stone

THORNLIE
P Pohe, G Collier, C Penaluna, A Williams
M Yates, G Beckwith, H Collins, J Walker Jnr
M White, D Innes, J Stean, J Mitchell
M Separovich, G Vaughan, J Thorn, P Riggio
INS: H Collins
OUTS: N Holden

The Hawks playing at home on their sluggish grass will be far too strong for the visiting Ravens. The addition of Daniel Newton makes the home side odds on favourites for this encounter I believe. Good skips in Simpson. Foy. Hugh McKay and Standley will stand them in good stead on Saturday, without doubt. Michael Yates will possibly pinch one point for the visiting Ravens, but that will be about it I think
Hilton 7-1
