MANNING v YOKINE

MANNING
B Adams, J Andrew, S Adams, B Hogg
A Taylor, J Angel, P Bowden, L Moulton
B Jeppesen, A Booth, D Griffiths, J Evans
P Gillespie, G Ginbey, P Gatti, D McCloskey
INS: D McCloskey
OUTS: R Pears

YOKINE
T Kay, R Humfrey, J McGrath, J Kaplan
B Morrison, M Lemos, J Matthews, P Hunter
S Shaw, W Coffey, G Robertson, F Faigenbaum
T McGillvray, J West, K Humfrey, B McGrechan
INS: R Humfrey
OUTS: S Franich

This is a game full of incentive, albeit on two opposite ends of the spectrum. Manning desperately needing a win to provide them with any hope to stay in one blue next season and Yokine needing to win to stay in touch and have any chance of catching the Mounters before they run out of games. Yokine in good form at the moment and with the big Pom, “Bush chook” Morrison and Shane “one hip wonder” Shaw firing, I think the doggies hold too much fire power and look to go into next week’s top of the table clash with their tails wagging. I am tipping 7-1, however won’t be surprised if this one gets ugly…

OUTS:

This has game of the round status written all over it. Mounters will be seething after losing this fixture early in the season and will be looking to mount a few dolphins. It’s a battle of the young up and comers and Joondalup will probably be a little bit disappointed with their ladder position at this stage of the season. It was probably these two teams who everyone predicted to be fighting for automatic promotion this year. That’s not to be, however Joondalup will be up and about for this game in their quest to make the top 3 and play off for promotion. Lots of quality back end players competing in this game, with old Jimmy “what did he say?” Buchanan winning by cricket scores the last few weeks and looking dangerous! Mount Lawley have slightly more firepower across the 16 with four quality skippers and I’ll tip them to just pip this one, but an upset might be brewing.
Mount Lawley vs Joondalup (7-1)

Another team in the race for the 3rd spot on the ladder is Sorrento. Mundaring have taken a few scalps at home this year, however they are not the same proposition away from home. I notice there have been a few shifts in the cavalry for Sorrento and it looks to be a solid line up. Tipping Mundaring to edge one rink and head back towards the hills relying on other results to go their way to remain a chance of staying up this year.
Sorrento vs Mundaring (7-1)

SWAN v NORTH BEACH

SWAN
D Park, G Tibbles, M Eckett, P Hilsz
P Kelly, S Anning, B Harris, K Hickey
T Natalotto, M Garner, R Hutchinson, G Foster
D Wood, A Southern, D Foster, T Southern
INS: B Harris, K Hickey
OUTS: I Cornthwaite, P Park

NORTH BEACH
T Jones, R Aitken, S Palmer, G Gregson
J Carlsen, R Hunter, R Hutchinson, D Anderson
J Bartorillo, E Retallack, G Barr, S Stevenson
L Mitten, R Munday, B Abrahamson, B Palfrey
INS: No changes
OUTS:

This might be 3rd v 8th on the ladder, however the Beach boys, like Mundaring are not the same team away from home and Swannies have had a few solid performances lately – including losing a tight battle against the Mounters a few weeks back 3-5 after leading with a few ends to go. Interesting to see if the big Ginger skips again, I still think he is one of the best skips in the division and might be crucial to the club staying up this year. I am tipping Swans to win this one and a couple more after this week. They might need to play off for survival, but they are hitting their straps at the right time and are always a very solid outfit at home.
Swan vs North Beach (7-1)

MORLEY v DOUBLEVIEW

MORLEY
M Radalj, W Mitchell, P Leyland, G Pinto
M West, V Orchard, B Geilke, W Hinchcliffe
K Nazareth, L Spinks, G Grieve, K Engelen
L Sanders, T Dawson, J Engelen, R Dunstan
INS: K Engelen
OUTS: M Callcott

DOUBLEVIEW
C McKenna, B Watts, N Feletti, M Fredericks
B Pearce, A Tennant, S Whitfield, A Faulkner
J Slavich, B Willesee, E Johnson, C Bell
B Heta, W Langdon, B Leed, M Leed
INS: J Slavich, M Fredericks
OUTS: D Cosgrove, C Hickman

Well, well, well. Interesting selections here. John Chevy Slavich having a run in the seconds this week and Morley’s number one skip taking the week off. This does not bode well for Morley who you would think need to rack up a few wins to remain in the division next year. Doubleview taking it to the Mounters last week in a very tightly fought contest. Even without Chevy playing, I think the View boys would be too strong and win this one. Morley will be lucky to get a point and it sets up a few frantic weeks for them. Doubleview have probably left their run a bit late for finals, but you never know!!
