A great set of fixtures for round 2 – another weekend that will sort out a few early questions from clubs that are looking for that top 4 spot. Early wins will be valuable as they always are but none more so than in the 20/21 season where a few clubs fancy their chances for promotion to White and a few just trying to hold and survive in the 1 blue competition. Fairly even match ups across all games it makes for a great round two in 1 Blue.

Morley should be winning this one at home they have come down from white and Manning do have two blue sides so we are yet to work out if they are two even sides or Manning 1 is the stronger. Manning 2 were sensational on the Piggott rink last week giving very experienced skip Andrew Jones and Mt Lawley a very big scare when his rink almost grabbed the lions share of the points on offer beating AJ’s rink by 18 shots. If Manning 2 are to beat Morley they will need to get around that rink and have another rink to step up and take advantage of Murray’s great start to the season. Morley managed to grab 2 points away last week and were quite solid before Sorrento managed to get well on top across two rinks so a repeat of that performance should be good enough to get the win here.
Morley 6-2

What a match this will be with both sides fancying their chances, Joondalup were sensational last week against North Beach squaring the points at 4 all and could consider themselves very unlucky not to walk away with 6 points. Yokine did what they needed to do and beat a gallant Doubleview side although it took an outstanding rink win from skip Bradley Morrison over Doubleview’s Pearce rink to finally put them away. Joondalup will take a few matches to find their way in 1 blue and this is quite possibly match of the round Yokine so good last year will want to put the new kids on the block to the sword and I think they will go close but just fall short. I’ll back the new kids on the block to win this one at home.
Joondalup 6-2

Another great match here, Swan always hard to beat on their slow greens but word has it that the greens are running very well and very differently with a new green keeper taking on the job at Swan the greens I’m told have picked up both in coverage and speed and may be heading back to the good old days when they were nice and quick. I cannot praise Sorrento highly enough as a club they just do everything so well including recruiting and retaining bowlers which makes them so competitive across all divisions and I’d expect that this side will be the same they have some very handy bowlers. This will be a great match and one that’s very hard to find a winner, given that Swan went up the hill and beat Mundaring and the fact it’s at their home and their greens have traditionally been very tricky sways me towards them but only just!
Swan 6-2

Another top match, both clubs having lost key players will make it a very even contest and a very hard match to select a winner. They were both great in defeat last week and could’ve quite easy both won their respective games. Mundaring have always seemed to struggle on grass greens so they will have to shake that tag to be a chance here and Doubleview greens are always tough if the wind is up so for that reason I’ll pick the home team to kick start their season against a very good Mundaring side who like most of the matches this round could quite easily win this contest without surprising to many at all. Another tight match.
Doubleview 6 – 2

Spoilt for great games this round but I would expect this one to go the way of Mt Lawley. They would have got quite the scare last week the Andrew Jones rink will be out for blood after losing their match he will want to atone so whoever draws that rink should be on guard as it is not to often you would see an AJ led rink loose by 18 shots particularly one as strong as the current line-up. The North Beach 1 Red side have lost some key personal and have had to draw upwards from the 1 blue side which has left them a little weaker which is not ideal as they very narrowly avoided relegation last year against Bedford so North Beach will need to be at there very best to trouble a start studded Mt Lawley side that have 1 white written all over them. Mt Lawley for all 8 points in this one.
Mt Lawley 8-0
