The game between Mt Lawley and Yokine was a gem. I was lucky enough to watch this one and it did not disappoint! Nothing separated these two sides the whole game and I was Yokine that had Mt Lawley in some trouble at one stage. Morley upset the young guns, Swan perhaps the upset of the round or was it North Beach? a toss of the coin for that honour.
Morley 71 (6) v Joondalup 70 (2)
Wayne Mitchell 12 v Wesley Neilson 25
Mark Callcott 21 v Ben Leggett 11
Lindsay Sanders 18 v Jimmy Buchanan 21
Mark West 20 v Patrick Daley 13
Down to the wire this game but thanks to the two Marks Calcott and West they held their nerve whilst Joondalup’s young gun for hire Wes Nielson gave Mitchell’s rink all sorts of grief. I suggested this one would be a close battle and I was so close to tipping Morley. Nothing between theses two very good sides, well done to Morley on a great win.
Tip: Joondalup 6-2
Result: Morley 6-2
Mt Lawley 82 (5.5) v Yokine 74 (2.5)
Mark Masel 18 v Trevor McGillivray 20
Andrew Jones 29 v Wayne Coffey 13
Anthony Einfeld 20 v Bradley Morrison 20
Corey Bessant 15 v Anthony Kay 21
The game of the round lived up to its status and my man AJ was the real difference giving Coffey’s rink a little touch up to the tune of 16 shots. Mark Mansell’s rink went down to one blue leading skipper Tony Kay who is on fire and un beaten so far this season. Yokine can take a lot away from that match along with 2.5 points something not too may sides will be capable of doing this season. Mt Lawley now break away in top spot by a game but only 4 points clear of Yokine so the race for instant promotion to white is well and truly on.
Tip: Mt Lawley 7-1
Result: Mt Lawley 5.5-2.5
Swan 84 (6) v Doubleview 67 (2)
Alan Southern 27 v Ben Willesee 9
Daniel Wood 22 v Edward Johnson 18
Ian Cornthwaite 19 v Bradley Pearce 20
Tony Natalotto 16 v Brandon Heta 20
Swan get a win and snap a 5-game losing streak, they managed to get over the top of Doubleview thanks to the rink of Alan Southern who had a very nice win over the Willesee rink by 18 shots. All other rinks were very close with wins or losses no greater than 4 shots. They would have enjoyed the home game and a well overdue win. No Doubt followed with few golden ales knowing the Swan boys.
Tip: Swan 6-2
Result: Swan 6-2
Manning 2 82 (6.5) v Mundaring 70 (1.5)
Brian Jeppesen 19 v Rex Cox 19
Phil Gillespie 21 v Geoffrey Bear 13
Allan Taylor 15 v Lindsay Pickles 22
Brett Adams 27 v John Doncon 16
Manning took the points against Mundaring as expected and did it miss some of their better credentialed top end bowlers. It was the Brett Adams & Phil Gillespie rinks that did the damage with a very good win. Lyndsey Pickles continued his good form and along with Inspector Cox ensured Mundaring did not leave empty handed.
Tip: Manning 7-1
Result: Manning 6.5-1.5
Sorrento 83 (2) v North Beach 88 (6)
Ronald Rogers 12 v John Bartorillo 34
Lance Martin 23 v Richard Aitken 18
Timothy Murray 16 v Lee Mitten 27
Rick Munt 32 v John Carlsen 9
Will the real Sorrento please stand up. They are now on a three-game losing streak after a great start to the season have come to a screaming halt. 4 Games ago they knocked off Joondalup away from home and looked a real one white prospect. Unfortunately, since then they have been on the wrong side of the aggregate. North Beach proved that they can match it against the best at home and away. They are putting together a very handy season, currently sitting 3rd on the ladder with 4 wins and a draw from 7 games and a real chance of playing finals this season. It was the John Bertorilio rink that led the way with a 22-shot win over accomplished Skip Ron Rogers. Congrats to North Beach on a great away win.
Tip: Sorrento 7-1
Result: North Beach 6-2
