(Brent McMillan 7 - Daniel Brown 29) (Derek Gibson 23 - Eddie Gollan 19) (James Wylie 6 - Stewart Gosstray 30) (Paul Brotherston 14 - Kevin McKay 17)
Armadale with a dominant win on the weekend with a 7-1 victory over Cockburn. This win sees them open up a nice gap in top spot over the chasing pack and they will be hard to catch this far out from the end of the season. With all of the Armadale big guns back in and firing Cockburn even at home had no answer and if not for a 4 shot win from Derek Gibson over Eddie Gollan they would have walked away without a point. Cockburn face another bottom 4 side next week in Gosnells away from home whilst Armadale take on another contender in Rockingham as they aim to entrench themselves even further on top of the ladder.
Willetton responded superbly this weekend after a few weeks of indifferent performances to record a comfortable 7.5 – 0.5 win over Gosnells. Like Cockburn earlier the home side failed to fire a shot and would be disappointed to walk away with just half a point. With Cameron Girvan back in form and Justin Wright also recording a big win Willetton had all the answers with a draw secured by Rue Bishop the only shining light for Gosnells. Next week Gosnells face a must win home fixture vs Cockburn while Willetton take on Kardinya at home in what should be a great fixture.
Rockingham 83 (7) vs South Perth 77 (1)
(Bradley Cole 22 - Robert Urquhart 20) (Bruce Edwards 16 - Neale Griffin 23) (Marcus Simpson 21 - Wayne Bezant 20) (Mark Devenny 24 - Steve Kelly 14)
This was a hard fixture to call before the game, and it looks like it turned out that way with just 6 shots separating the two teams for the aggregate win. However, in the end it was Rockingham who returned to form to secure 7 valuable points against a gallant South Perth side. The big winner of the day was Mark Devenny over Steve Kelly by 10 shots whilst Neale Griffin secured the one point for South Perth with a 7 shot win against Bruce Edwards. South Perth looking to bounce back at home next week against the in form Safety Bay outfit while Rockingham off to Armadale for match of the round.
Rossmoyne 98 (7) vs Kardinya 57 (1)
(Anthony Churcher 31 - Darryl Flintoff 13) (Craig Edson 18 - Stephen Vinci 19) (Raymond Halse 21 - Garry Knight 12) (Wayne Heldt 28 - John Rochford 13)
Rossmoyne pretty brutal again with a comprehensive 41 shot victory over top 2 side Kardinya on the weekend to record two on the trot. After a very slow start to the season Rossmoyne head honcho Mayor Lang turned to a series of meditation and mindfulness workshops for his players and this has helped turn their season around. Players now walk onto the green in a trance like state with only positive thoughts running thru their heads. Kardinya had no answers and if not for a solitary one shot win from Stephen Vinci over Craig Edson it would have been a very bleak afternoon. Kardinya away at Willetton next week in another tough test while Rossmoyne travel to Dalkeith looking to make it 3 in a row.
Safety Bay 89 (7) vs Dalkeith Nedlands 77 (1)
(Raymond Clark 15 - Michael Yates 26) (Raymond Kennedy 19 - Darren Redeckis 16) (Ron Hall 24 - Martin Saunders 20) (Steven Adams 31 - Jesse Brown 15)
It looks like Dalkeith tried hard on the weekend but in the end Safety Bay had the answers and walked away with 7 valuable points. Steve Adams the big winner over Jesse Brown while Mike Yates returned serve with a good win over Raymond Clark to secure Dalkeith’s only point. Safety Bay making a very good fist of things so far this season and next week they travel to South Perth in what should be a very competitive match. Dalkeith back at home and up against another bottom 4 side in Rossmoyne in what is a must win match for both teams.
