A 50/50 result was enough for the premiers to reclaim top spot of the ladder heading into the final game of the fist round. Big win for the Millers jumps them into 2nd while Cockburn record their first win of the season. Lets go through the results
Cambridge 85 (7) vs Leeming 60 (1)
(Blake Nairn 22 - Karl Vandersluys 14) (Cameron Harris 22 - James Bowden 18) (Clive Adams 27 - Gary Ford 11) (Kevin Crowle 14 - Jim Newton 17)
No surprise here but the Knights make it back to back wins with a 25 shot win over Leeming. Huge weekend coming up for them now as they play their catchup game hosting the View and then head over to take on the premiers. Leeming host Cockburn in the battle of the beef
Cockburn 91 (6) vs Doubleview 61 (2)
(Jordan King 31 - John Slavich 9) (Josip (Joe) Marevic 18 - Ryan Moyle 19) (Marc Abonnel 25 - Anthony Williams 14) (Peter Burgess 17 - Charles Slavich 19)
Cockburn get their first win for the year and a big one at that beating Doubleview by 30 shots. Cockburn now will be looking to continue the momentum as they head over to take on fellow beef Leeming. Big heck now for the View as they face a doubleheader next week against the Knights and the Eagles.
Manning 88 (7) vs Bassendean 65 (1)
(Glenn Pauling 14 - Simon Alden 19) (Kristina Van Nierop 21 - Stein Davies 20) (Scott Walker 25 - David Rhodes 9) (Warren Holt 28 - Wesley Neilson 17)
After going down to the premiers on Friday night the Eagles have bounced back beating the Lions by 22. The win jumps them into 3rd spot and will be looking to finish off the first round strong as they head over to take on Doubleview. The loss for the Lions drops them from 1st to 5th but are only 1 point out of the 4. They head back home next week to take on Sorrento.
Osborne Park 80 (6) vs Mount Lawley 79 (2)
(Cameron Green 22 - Jack East 17) (Dale Marsland 14 - Corey Bessant 21) (Ryan Brown 21 - Daniel Trewhella 25) (Segan Pasalich 23 - Ben Leggett 16)
What a beauty this one turned out to be but after last week’s horror the Saints have come out on top with a 1 shot win. The win just keeps the Saints hanging on in the 4 and face a tough next week to finish off against the Millers. The win on Friday night and the 2 points was enough for the premiers to regain top spot on the ladder, they finish off the first round at home against the Knights
Sorrento 63 (0) vs South Perth 82 (8)
(Chris Leggett 14 - Paul Davies 16) (Greg Taylor 14 - Justin Opie 27) (Murray Hulbert 18 - Graeme Wishart 19) (Rhett Butler 17 - Ross Bresland 20)
Great win here for the Millers getting all 8 points over Sorrento. The win sits them just 1 and a half behind the premiers and will be looking to finish the first round in the top 2 when they host the Saints. Not good for Sorrento after a couple of departures during the week getting an egg but lets see how the finish the round when they head over to the Den next week
