Well what a round that was and as we hit the halfway mark it is the Millers leading the field. Not sure when the last time it happened of if it ever has but we had 2 draws for the round both resulting in 4 points each. Down the bottom both newcomers finish off the first round in the beef and former premiers the View are once again in all sorts. Lets go through the results
The Lions finish off the first round with a 14 shot win over Sorrento. The win jumps them back into the 4 and will once again give themselves a good chance of making the finals. Sorrento are going to have to really find something as I think they are in trouble. They should avoid the beef but I think they will be playing a challenge game to hold on.
The first of our 2 draws was between 2 former premiers in recent years and it looked to be a beauty. Both 2 rinks each and the biggest margin was only 3 but the 2 teams couldn’t be separated. The draw keeps the Eagles hanging on in the 4 but only by half a point ahead of the Knights. The View losing their catchup game and only getting a draw here pretty much ends their finals hopes and like Sorrento are looking like having to play a challenge game to hold onto their spot in premier.
Leeming 88 (6) vs Cockburn 60 (2)
(Gary Ford 16 - Jordan King 19) (James Bowden 34 - Peter Burgess 10) (Jim Newton 15 - Marc Abonnel 20) (Karl Vandersluys 23 - Josip (Joe) Marevic 11)
28 shot win to Leeming in the battle of the beef. The win gets them within a couple of points within the View and I think the challenge game will be their hopes going into round 2. 2 points for the visitors also keeps them within distance lets see what happens in the second round
The second of the 4 all draws was between the premiers and the Knights. The premiers would be disappointed with the last couple of games but are hot on the Millers tail. Great weekend for the Knights winning their catchup game and getting 4 points on the road here. They are right back in the mix now just half a point out of the 4
South Perth 86 (8) vs Osborne Park 59 (0)
(Graeme Wishart 20 - Cameron Green 17) (Justin Opie 18 - Ryan Brown 15) (Paul Davies 21 - Segan Pasalich 13) (Ross Bresland 27 - Dale Marsland 14)
The Millers jump to the top of the ladder after back to back maximums with a 27 shot win over the Saints. What a return for Rooster Wishart who has turned back the clock and is currently on top of the skippers ladder standing alone with 8 wins. The Saints are 3 duck eggs from their last 4 games and are now out of the 4 for the first time this season.
