Who needs Easter when you can have this many resurrections in one Round?! Maybe Round 10 should now be called the Phoenix Round as South Perth, Morley & Kardinya come rising from the ashes with 3 terrific performances.
The live ladder predictor to running overtime & the new live ladder has changed through the middle section quite a bit & no real change on the top or bottom 2. Lets run through the full update on the predictions after R11, then R14 but for now there's 2 significant changes. Wanneroo crash out of the predicted 2nd spot with only 1 win from 4, whereas we had them 3 from 4 for those games. They now are tracking for 3rd spot but only 2.5pts behind 2nd place Osborne Park who have picked up to tracking for 86pts whereas we had them at 83pts from R6.
The other side of the coin is those dreaded bottom 4 spots. The bottom 2 spots haven't changed & they still are Morley (10th) & South Perth (9th). The difference is now Cockburn are 8th & Warwick are 7th. Can't believe Warwick are now in this conversation but that's what happens when you lose 5 in a row. In saying that Warwick should get themselves out of trouble but there's a decent drop to 8th, 9th & 10th. There is now nothing the difference in 8th & 9th in the predictor from R11 to R18 so game on after last weeks huge win for the Millers. And believe it or not we can now have a conversation about Morley staying in 1 White which seemed absolutely impossible a few weeks ago. One good win has them into 8th spot & won't they just love to get out of automatic relegation. It gives them a playoff hope of staying up which they would of taken your hand off a few Rounds ago, what a story that would be. Game on for all.
Enjoy the long weekend & best of luck to all still playing this weekend in the State Singles.

SORRENTO 85 (7) v WANNEROO 79 (1)
Shane Ernest Rixom 34 v Steve Denny  22
 Christopher Lander 22 v Hugh Ward  16
 Rhett Butler 20 v Darren Turra  12
 Shane Loftus 9 v Chris Buchholz  29

Sorrento were great again this weekend, well great over 3 rinks which carried the Agg easy enough & took 7pts off the Roo's. This game was huge for both sides as the Roo's now know for certain they can't take top spot & will now be focused on making Finals. Sorrento are cruising again & it is all but over for the chasing pack.
Rixom was heard shouting Murray, Murray, Murray (cue the Kaiser Chiefs Ruby, Ruby, Ruby song) a lot this game as the 3 Murray's carried him to a big win v Denny by 12shots. This game was one of the highest scoring games of the year so far. The closest I can see fro rough search is the Roelofs loss at Kats which was 50shots but this game was 34-22 for 56 shots. That's a very impressive average of 2.7shots per end, so some ends must of had plenty of 5 & 6's to get to that score.
Lander had a good battle with Wardy who was looking to bounce back & had their chances against the best rink in the division at the moment. Lander goes to the magic 10 in a row which nobody else has in the top 4 divisions & Wardy drops to 4 in a row or 1 from 7. Congrats to Tyson, Lucas, Cunningham & Lander, not many rinks get 10 in a row in any division, here's hoping they can get to the holy grail of 18!! The Landers/Cunningham train continues......as they are the only 2 players to hold a perfect 10.
Butler v Turra was swinging towards the Swans for most of the day as Turra's side just couldn't get a run on them as Butler rink won by 8 shots in the end. That finishes increases Butler unbeaten run to 8 in a row while Turra loses the first one since R3.
The only concern for the Swans was probably what happened to Loftus's rink as Buchholz tore them apart by a huge 20 shots. They haven't lost by 20 shots since Taylor's loss in R1 & then again in R4 but it's just unfortunate that he was also on today's rink & leaves him as the only current player from Sorrento on a negative scoring difference of-16shots. Loftus's side has now lost 2 from 4 but no doubt they'll bounce back with another big win in R11. More importantly for Sorrento iit's important that they continue to improve as they know they need 4 strong rinks to survive next year.
Result: Sorrento 7 - 1
Prediction: Sorrento 7 - 1

SOUTH PERTH 86 (6) v COCKBURN 70 (2)
 Dean Calvo 20 v Mirko Musulin  24
 Adrian Durrant 22 v Jim Ricci  11
 Michael McRae 20 v Marin Sokol  22
 Denis Bandy 24 v William TePania  13

Another good report back from the clash of the southern end of the barrel here with the Millers firing home late to roll the Roosters which is a huge win for South Perth & as they rise to the surface to grab some air after the last few weeks. If the Roosters weren't already in trouble they know they are now with a R11 game against Sorrento starting to sink in, then Ossy Park away in R12.
We spoke about this 9 shot margin where the Rooster found difficult to win by more than 9 shots when playing away & this played out pretty much exactly like that, where they played very well across 2 rinks but the 2 other rinks of South Perth won by 11 shots which basically the full difference in the end.
Roosters started off well with Musulin holding out against Calvo to grab the win by 4 shots to give Cockburn a great start. Musulin probably needed that win to end the 3 losses on the trot & Calvo also would of loved the win the stem the bleed as its 1 from 6 for him now with a -38shot difference.
McRae v Sokol was close all day as the lead changed every few ends but Sokol kicked through late to win by 2 shots against an experienced Millers rink & suddenly things were looking good for Cockburn. Sokol must have Teflon underwear as this is the 4th game in a row where Sokol has won/lost on the last few bowls with a +2, -1, -1, +2 over those games.
The game started to swing the Millers way in the next game, where Durrant came back after not playing since late last year & showed little cowebs against Ricci to win by 11 shots. Ricci stepped up to skippering for Joe who seemed to be missing & played well but the Millers mid section was too strong with Munnelly & Santostefano dominating & anything they missed supposedly Durrant smashed with drive after drive.
Bandy had a great tussle v TePania where it was very close all day but Bandy grinded the win from pure determination as he collected 7 of the last 9 ends. Big Willie's side had plenty of chances to swing this Roosters way but they just missed out on the few critical ends that made the difference.
Durrant could be the skippering difference the Millers are screaming out for but they'll need a few more of these performances to get themselves to safety.
Result: South Perth 6 - 2
Prediction: South Perth 6 - 2

WARWICK 77 (1) v MORLEY 89 (7)
 Jeffery Post 18 v Wayne Barker  23
 Jon Borkowski 17 v Wayne Mitchell  23
Lindsay Hill 23 v Raymond (Tom) Dawson  15
 Brian Ledingham 19 v Lindsay Sanders  28

Massive congrats to the Mavericks on a tremendous win here against a very strong Warwick side when they are at home. Warwick are certainly making the most from their Christmas voucher for the Indoor Skydiving Centre on Great Eastern Hwy as they maintain their freefall from the lofty heights after R5. Unsure what is happening but it's not looking well for them as they only 6.5pts from a possible 40pts since last winning in R5.
Where to start for Morley, they were just superb across all rinks & finally break that 30+ games without a win. They'll be happy to see that monkey off their backs. It started with Barker beating Post by 5 shots where Barker had the lucky charm in Wharam back in to get the Mavericks off to a great start.
Borkowski had a tough tussle with Mitchell, where the Mitchell rink must of played superb to kerb the onslaught & not just survive but win by 6 shots against one of the better rinks in the division. Hill stepped up when needed for Warwick as they rolled Dawson by 8 to bring things close again but in doing so ruined Dawson's chance of going 3 in a row. It then came down to the last rink of Ledingham v Sanders had a right battle all day & maybe Brian was a little rusty after not playing since pre-xmas but Sanders & Lowry (coming up from 2nd Division) pounced on the chances & produced the unthinkable & carried the Agg with an impressive 9 shot victory.
Warwick are a good enough side to chase themselves back out of trouble but someone needs to hit that big red button for R11. Morley can now see daylight & with it there's a huge carrot of survival now dangling in front of them. To their advantage, they now have 8 games left & guess what....they have yet to play both South Perth & Cockburn which are huge 16pt games for them, win both & it's game on.
Result: Morley 7 - 1
Prediction: Warwick 7 - 1

OSBORNE PARK 78 (2) v KARDINYA 84 (6)
Fernando Di Giuseppe 17 v Graeme Fewings  21
 Colin Fleay 28 v Ross Knapp  13
 Michael Dewson 14 v Michael Yates  32
 Jason Thorn 19 v Craig Stokes  18

And the shocks kept coming after R10, where the Kats rolled up their sleeves, bruised off the lesson they received the week before at Sorrento & came out swinging from the very first end.
Even the unbeaten DiGiuseppe rink wasn't to be spared by the ravaging Kats as Fewings took DiGiuseppe by 4 shots & with it a very impressive run for that Saints rink as they were going for 8 in a row. Fewing needed it after losing 3 on the trot & with that huge win the Kats had setup a big day ahead.
Fleay dug deep to push past Knapp by a pretty impressive 15 shot margin & gave the Saints a huge chance of the Agg. Then Yates responded in similar fashion by knocking Dewson out by 18 shots which swung the odds back into the Kats favour. Thorn v Stokes then had a great battle all day with only the minimum margin separating them after 21 ends where Thorn edged it by 1 shot but not enough to bridge the 6 shot Agg margin. And with that performance it's the Kats that gone marching home very happy bowlers.
There's now nearly 20 pts difference from Ossy Park to Sorrento & only 0.5pt to 3rd spot, although the River Rats probably should be 2nd as that 0.5pt was 'stolen' by Bowls WA from South Perth in Sharpie Gate so let's hope that doesn't show its ugly head again after all results come in on R18. So with that gratuitous 0.5pt the Saints will be focusing on maintaining that coveted 2nd spot rather than chasing a Sorrento ghost. Kats are now up to 5th with a nice gap appearing but they'll need to maintain their little purple patch of 3 from 4.
Result: Kardinya 6 - 2
Prediction: Osborne Park 6 - 2

ROSSMOYNE 89 (7.5) v BASSENDEAN 77 (0.5)
 Donald Haddow 24 v Jovan Krstic  16
 Edward Gollan 24 v Eugene O'Sullivan  21
 Rawley Lang 21 v Rodney Revell  20
 Allan Petchell 20 v Alfred Dinnison  20

The River Rats needed a big win here & duly delivered to maintain the pressure on Ossy Park & what a difference that pressure has made as they close the gap to 0.5pt now. Basso were travelling very well but just came up against a better side on the day but they were very close for most of the day.
Haddow jumped on his skippering chance by winning by a solid 8 shots v Krstic & was pretty comfortable for most of the day. Gollan, as expected built on that win by adding another 3 shots over O'Sullivan. That's 9 from 10 for Gollan's crew which is superb performing week on week. O'Sullivan seems to be stuck in heads up mode with a L/W/L/W/L/W/L but getting within 3 of Gollan's side wasn't a bad effort.
Lang v Rocket was also very close where it went right down to the last bowl where Lang held Revell's side to win by 1 shot. Lang would of been very happy to kerb the losing streak & rocket loses his chance to go 3 in a row.Petchell pulled it out of the fire (again) for the River Rats as we hear he was about 13 shots down halfway & crawled Dinnison back to all square on the last end t grab a vital 0.5pt.
Overall the Lions probably could of easily got 2pts if not the Agg if a few ends went their way but Rossmoyne are tough enough at home & are sitting 3rd on the ladder for a very good reason, they win tight games. The River Rats have Morley away next week while the Saints are away to Wanneroo, so 2nd place looks very appealing from here for Rossmoyne.
Result: Rossmoyne 7.5 - 0.5
Prediction: Rossmoyne 6 - 2
