Looks like we should be good to go this Saturday although it will still be a hot one Let’s have a quick look at what lies ahead this weekend
KALAMUNDA v DALKEITH NEDLANDS
KALAMUNDA
I Cornthwaite, D Park, B Farrant, D Connell
W Olive, D Wooltorton, C Smeeton, M Thomas
A Bartlett, P Keating, G Trevaskis, B Solly
B Brandsma, A Brandsma, G McDonald, M Clancy INS: C Smeeton, G McDonald OUTS: S Anning, M Gill
DALKEITH NEDLANDS
L Richardson, R Moran, R Rose, R Kelly
M Saunders, M Green, T Allen, P Jeanes
Jesse Brown, D Fitzgerald, D Hyde, B Owen
A Foster, D Redeckis, S Gazia, M Joyce INS: R Moran, D Hyde OUTS: D Steinberg, K Allan
Kalamunda taking on Dalkeith in an important match for both sides. Dalkeith were able to record a close win in the corresponding match earlier in the season however I expect that this fixture will be a little different. With Bill Brandsma in top form post his win in the over 60”s state singles during the week it should give the whole side a boost in match they must win to retain a grip on 2nd place. The Dalkeith side looks to be missing some important names and they will find this challenge away at Kalamunda very difficult. Expect that despite sone recent struggles Kalamunda will get this back on track this week.
Kalamunda 8-0
VICTORIA PARK CARLISLE v KARDINYA
VICTORIA PARK CARLISLE
G Wishart, P Keeffe, R Johnson, J Hiskins
L Such, A Daley, P Long, G Archell
G Beckwith, L Beurteaux, M White, J Jermalinski
D Florance, M Simms, G Williams, C McKay INS: No changes OUTS:
KARDINYA
I Barrie, G Knight, M Ayres, M West
G White, D Wood, L Phillips, J Edgar
N Ball, R Knapp, A McCullagh, W Lee
C Vinci, S Vinci, R McNamara, S Garner INS: L Phillips OUTS: J Rochford
Vic Park take on Kardinya in a match that will be critical for Kardinya in particular. Vic Park seem to have top spot sewn up but Kardinya still need to keep winning to secure a top 3 finish. They will need another big effort from the Vinci tandem if they are to get close this weekend. I could see a potential upset if the fixture was to be played at Kardinya but not at the Vic Part fortress. There is a danger that the VP boys could take the foot off the pedal given they are unbeaten since round 1 but unlikely it will be this week and expect Vic Park to record a comfortable win.
Vic Park 7-1
FREMANTLE v WARNBRO
FREMANTLE
P Wachmer, J Smith, G Harling, B Wright
S McCormack, J Chessell, A Gale, E Lacy
D Golem, J F Stewart, S Hewett, R McGuffie
K Atkins, B Ciccotosto, N Gaspar, N Mulligan INS: S Hewett, J Smith, G Harling OUTS: B Sumich, F Pensabene, M Conway
WARNBRO

B Kalinowsky, D Watson, L Blechynden, D Fitzpatrick
Dr G Jackson, T Ball, B McDougall, L Kellow INS: B Taylor, M Jaworski, T Ball OUTS: M Wilson, L Strange, T Lutey
Match of the round for mine and think that Freo just have to win this match if they are to have a chance of surviving. A win this week followed by a clash with South Perth next week would give them a chance. Can they do it - yes they can with word coming out of Freo that Dinko and Jimmy have been leading some lengthy training sessions in the February sun in an effort to get the squad back in peak form. With Warnbro’s poor record away from home I can see this match is Freo’s to loose and I expect them to get the job done.
Fremantle 6-2
ROCKINGHAM v SOUTH PERTH
ROCKINGHAM
B Edwards, J Lethlean, K Tremlett, T Rubery
M Devenny, P Villa, I Barrett, S Wales
L Atkins, G Roberts, I Wright, D Poole
M Simpson, S Currie, T Threlfall, K Fyles INS: M Devenny OUTS: R McIlveen
SOUTH PERTH
T Reid, P Holmes, R Negus, J Cunningham
S Kelly, F Anderson, B Roelefs, G Bovell
D Mortley, M Petrich, G Reagan, D Reagan
W Bezant, T Percival, J Terrell, S Masterson INS: T Reid OUTS: S West
South Perth in the same predicament as Fremantle with a win this week followed by a clash with Freo the following week at home giving them a chance to survive. But Rockingham have been the big surprise packets this year and they have their eye on a top 3 finish. They have a great record at home and some great young players headed by Simpson and Currie. I do like the look of the SP team this week with Reid back and the back end looking like it has more depth. But it won’t be enough and expect that Rockingham will prevail in a tight match.
Rockingham 7-1
FORRESTFIELD v THORNLIE
FORRESTFIELD
J Weppner, T Tillemans, A Fewings, F Gore
B Wicks, M Garner, J Forrest, H Rabey
R Tillemans, M Vatri, L Stedman, L Delcaro
R Cummings, R Carr, J Tillemans, D Croft INS: A Fewings OUTS: C Holland
THORNLIE
E Gollan, R Carruthers, P Riggio, A Payne
J Stean, N Holden, C Penaluna, J Mitchell
M Yates, G Vaughan, H Collins, P De Meuse
D Slade, M Separovich, M Forrester, A Williams INS: H Collins OUTS: J Thorn
Both sides mid table and both seemingly on the improve and a chance at a top 3 finish. On form I can’t split them but in these sorts of games I tend to favour the home side. I expect Forrestfield to win this match and am pretty confident they will finish top 3 coms season’s end. Thornlie will live to fight another day and with 2 home games to finish the season expect that they will survive for next season.
