Exciting week ahead with the doubleheader round and WA welcomes Australian rep and Commonwealth games silver medallist Ben Twist who will be playing for Victoria Park over the weekend. Late start for both games so head down to see one of the games finest in action. For the preview we will look at the clubs individually and who they are up against starting from the leaders down
Sorrento - Sth Perth (A), Doubleview (H)
Great start from Sorrento getting all 8 points at home but are faced with a tough challenge this week. Firstly away to Sth Perth then home to Doubleview. Both winnable games and wouldn’t be an upset either if they lose both also. No Bruce Eagles this week does weaken them a bit but Murray Hulbert steps up and is more than capable in filling the gap.
Vs Sth Perth 3-5
Vs Doubleview 2-6
Doubleview – Manning (H), Sorrento (A)
The Veiw getting their season underway nicely with 7 points on the road and also faced with 2 tough games hosting back to back premiers Manning and away to Sorrento. Doubleveiw and Manning always have cracking games no matter where it is with generally only ever a couple of shots in it. As they travel to Sorrento the conditions are never easy at the best of times but I think they can get the job done and win both over the weekend
Vs Manning 6-2
Vs Sorrento 6-2
Cambridge - Mt Lawley (H), Joondalup (A)
The knights getting the points last week at home and have a real opportunity here to go 3 and 0 when they travel to Mt Lawley and also to Joondalup. Not a dominant performance in their first week but they would back themselves to win both of these even without Blake Nairn who is off to the UK and I think they will too.
Vs Mt Lawley 7-1
Vs Joondalup 7-1
Manning – Doubleview (A), Bassendean (H)
The Eagles surviving a close one at home last week and will head to Doubleveiw before hosting Bassendean on Sunday. Aj Heal comes in skipper in the absence of Shane Knott and Mark Potente gets his chance at top level coming in for Scott O’Brien. Shane Knott is a big out and I think that will impact them but should get home against the lions on Sunday
Vs Doubleview 1-7
Vs Bassendean 6-2
Mt Lawley – Cambridge (H), Osborne Park (H)
Mt Lawley also getting off to a great start last week winning at Joondalup and now have 2 games at Home. They will play their round 3 game first on the Friday night and have swapped the away game for a home fixture before taking on the Knights on Saturday. 2 tough games but both very winnable but im going to go 50/50 on them.
Vs Osborne Park 6-2
Vs Cambridge 1-7
Joondaulup – Nth Beach (A), Cambridge (H)
Joondalup while not getting the winners cheque were very competitive in their first game of premier at home last week. They have the tough task of heading to Nth Beach before hosting the Knights on Sunday. They will be hoping to win 1 of these 2 games but without Jimmy Buchanan its going to be a tough ask.
Vs Nth Beach 1-7
Vs Cambridge 1-7
Sth Perth – Sorrento (H), Nth Beach (A)
The Millers just fell short on their come back last week against the Eagles but will be looking to turn things around this week. They also will play their round 3 game first on the Friday night heading to Nth Beach before hosting Sorrento on the Saturday. The Millers have an incredible record at Nth beach and it is a lot easier to try and get points there without the Saturday afternoon wind. They will look forward to getting back for their first home game of the season on Saturday. No Paul Davies for the weekend which isn’t ideal but im going to back Sth Perth to win both of these games
Vs Nth Beach 6-2
Vs Sorrento 5-3
Bassendean – Osborne Park (H), Manning (A)
The Lions with a very solid performance last week against Cambridge and will take on the Saints at home before traveling to Manning on Sunday. Not an easy task by any meaning but will be tough to beat at home and wouldn’t surprise me if the knocked off the premiers they have done well there in the past but for me its 1 each.
Vs Osborne Park 6-2
Vs Manning 2-6
Osborne Park – Bassendean (A), Mt Lawley (A)
The Saints after only getting 1 point at home last week now face both games on the road for this weeks doubleheader. Changing venues against Mt Lawley will now be played on the Friday night before heading to the Den on Saturday. They really need to win one of these two or could find themselves in early beef if they happen to lose both. John Goddard coming back in is a big plus however Im going both the home teams on this occasion.
Vs Mt Lawley 2-6
Vs Bassendean 2-6
Nth Beach – Joondalup (H), Sth Perth (H)
Nth Beach with a horrid start last week have 2 home games to try turn and things around. With one of the best home ground advantages I feel if they lose both of these its going to be a long season ahead. Hosting the Millers at home first on a Friday night I feel takes a little bit of the home advantage away but did manage a 5-3 result when they played them at home on a Friday night last year. They host the Dolphins on Saturday with them being new to the comp not sure how much experience they would have playing there but they need to pounce on them
Vs Sth Perth 2-6
Vs Joondalup 7-1
