A big weekend of bowls awaits us hopefully. Let’s hope we can get some play in after Thursday bowls was cancelled due to the heat.
Good Luck to all players.

DALKEITH NEDLANDS v KALAMUNDA

DALKEITH NEDLANDS

M Saunders, M Green, P Jeanes, J Shaw
Jesse Brown, M Zusman, J Morgan, B Owen
A Foster, A Gryta, D Fitzgerald, M Joyce

KALAMUNDA
I Cornthwaite, D Park, B Farrant, D Connell
W Olive, A Bartlett, S Anning, M Thomas
D Wooltorton, G Trevaskis, G McDonald, B Solly
B Brandsma, M Gill, A Brandsma, M Clancy
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Kalamunda who remain undefeated to this point take on Dalkeith away from home to commence Round 6. Each week the Kalamunda team has got the job done and it is easy to see why when you lookout the depth of talent and experience they possess across all rinks. They have had some close matches but they seem to find a way and will be very keen to extend their unbeaten streak. At home I expect that Dalkeith will be very competitive given that they have comfortably won both games at home this season. Jesse Brown is having a great season as skipper backed up by experienced campaigners Mike Zusman, John Morgan and Bill Owen. A clash with the Bill Brandsma rink should be a great contest should it eventuate. I expect Dalkeith to put up a strong performance but Kalamunda should be too classy and will stay undefeated.
Kalamunda 6-2

Match of the round here with 2nd placed Vic Park taking on 4th placed Kardinya. After a defeat in Round 1 the Park boys have been on a roll with 4 straight wins. Both teams yet to be released but I expect that Lee Such would return to the Park team this week after a week away on the Gold Coast. I am sure Such would have been getting plenty of practice under his belt during this period away and will come back firing. This match will be areal challenge however as Kardinya remain undefeated at home. The Kardinya boys seem to grow an extra leg at home and they will be super tough to beat. I did make the mistake of tipping against Vic Park when they travelled to Rockingham recently but I am going to go with the home side again in a very tight affair.
Kardinya 6-2

WARNBRO v FREMANTLE

WARNBRO
G Watts, J Radford, D Kitson, S Christie
T Dellar, K Cousens, B Regan, L Kellow
B Kalinowsky, B McDougall, M Jaworski, D Fitzpatrick
Dr G Jackson, A Henneker, T Ball, P Hartnett
INS: L Kellow
OUTS: D Kimberley

FREMANTLE
K Atkins, B Ciccotosto, A Gale, D Piromalli
S McCormack, B Wright, J Chessell, E Lacy
D Golem, J F Stewart, S Aldus, R McGuffie
J Smith, B Sumich, N Gaspar, M Conway
INS: D Piromalli
OUTS: S Shuttleworth

Fremantle were able to get their season back on track last week with a home win against Dalkeith in a reasonably tight affair but they face the toughest away match in one blue South this week travelling to Warnbro. Clearly Warnbro look to be world beaters at home whilst struggling to be as competitive away from home. Just last week they recorded an easy 22 shot win over South Perth. I think the margin will be higher this week as on paper Warnbro look to have too much talent for the re-building Fremantle outfit.
Warnbro 8-0

SOUTH PERTH v ROCKINGHAM

SOUTH PERTH
M McRae, B Roelefs, R Negus, J Terrell
F Anderson, M Petrich, D Reagan, J Cunningham
D Mortley, W Bezant, W Skuza, G Bovell
P Holmes, G Reagan, T Percival, K Pride
INS: K Pride
OUTS: S Kelly

ROCKINGHAM
B Edwards, K Tremlett, J Lethlean, T Rubery
R McIlveen, P Villa, I Barrett, S Wales
M Devenny, L Atkins, G Roberts, D Poole
M Simpson, S Currie, T Threlfall, K Fyles
INS: R McIlveen
OUTS: I Wright

Interesting match up between these 2 teams. Some interesting changes at the selection table with regular skipper Steve Kelly out and playing Premier League this week. His position will be taken by his loyal deputy and very competent bowler Farley Anderson. On the other hand top skipper Russell Mcllveen returns after a week out and this can only improve the Rockingham side. Rockingham have acquitted themselves well up in Blue South this season and are due to win one away from home. However South Perth are another club who are very hard to beat at home. Expect this to go right down to the wire but am going to go with Rockingham in an upset.
Rockingham 6-2

THORNLIE v FORRESTFIELD

THORNLIE
D Slade, R Carruthers, P Riggio, A Payne
N Holden, M Forrester, M Stokes, J Mitchell
M Yates, G Vaughan, J Thorn, A Williams
M Separovich, J Stean, C Penaluna, D Cooper
INS: M Stokes, J Mitchell
OUTS: J Walker, P deMeuse

FORRESTFIELD
J Weppner, M Garner, A Keegan, F Gore
C Holland, J Forrest, R Carr, H Rabey
R Tillemans, M Vatri, L Stedman, L Delcaro
R Cummings, T Tillemans, J Tillemans, D Croft
INS: J Tillemans
OUTS: G Tillemans

Thornlie currently sitting at the foot of the table but not for much longer in my opinion. They take on Forrestfield this week at home and will be desperate for a win on their favoured home surface. Who would be a selector at Forrestfield? This week J Tillemans is in whilst G Tillemans is out. Hopefully the family gets on and you would need to be very careful when placing the name tags on the board. But what it does mean is that with an R, a T, a J and potentially a G Tillemans we could end up with a rink with all 4 together at some point. May not be ideal for family harmony though. Despite all of this and regardless of ladder positions Thornlie cannot afford to let this match slip and they won’t.
Thornlie 7 -1
