Just 2 weeks remaining before the end of the first half of the season and what a season it has been so far. We have our first transfer for the year and a home game at a different venue but let’s now dive in and see what we have install for round 8
MOUNT LAWLEY v DOUBLEVIEW
MOUNT LAWLEY
C Bessant, J Bessant, G Herriot, K Cornell
C Green, P Jones, P Park, C Ruwoldt
D Rowland, L Kelly, A Elmer, K Scott
D Trewhella, S Loftus, P Sinden, A Graham INS: S Loftus, A Elmer, C Ruwoldt OUTS: A Einfeld, A Jones, T Ingram
DOUBLEVIEW
A Williams, A Wetzler, G Faulkner, M Hansen
C Slavich, R Bates, B Willesee, G Nelson
R Moyle, B White, B Griffiths, B Pearce
K McIlroy, T Whitfield, S Cerff, L Thorn INS: B Griffiths OUTS: B Conway
Well not sure if this is a first but Mt Lawley hosting Doubleview at Osborne Park due to their greens being occupied by Xmas functions. So this will be a tough one to pick. The big news during the week is the signing of Shane Loftus who comes in to play 3 for Trewhella. Andy Elmer also comes back in as Einfeld and Ingram are out. Doubleview will be looking to bounce back from their shock loss at home and regain a top 4 spot. A neutral venue here makes this one pretty even but I’m going to go the View.
Doubleview 6-2
MANNING v SORRENTO
MANNING
S Knott, M Wunnenberg, A Lill, J Angel
T Mitchell, N Jones, B Hogg, S O'Brien
L Grigg, D Downey, A Heal, J Butler
C Packer, B Butler, P Ker, J Titheradge INS: D Downey OUTS: M Kemp
SORRENTO
R Cunningham, R Rogers, B Lucas, M Sharrett
R Butler, P Augustson, P Morgan, S Mortimer
B Eagles, M Hulbert, P Crow, G Taylor
P Knight, P Flack, S Buckley, G Murray INS: R Rogers, S Buckley, G Murray OUTS: C Lander, S Loftus, M Douglass
The Eagles with back-to-back home games will be looking to repeat last week’s performance here. David Downey comes in for Kemp who is out this week. Sorrento with the big blow losing Loftus during the week and Chris Lander being out certainly doesn’t help matters. Sorrento really struggling at the moment and I can’t see them beating the premiers on their home track
Manning 7-1
OSBORNE PARK v NORTH BEACH

The Saints returning home after a good win away last week. They go in with the same line up and will be looking to go 3 wins in a row and hopefully start putting a bit of pressure on the sides above them. The Saints currently sit in 7th spot but are only 5 and a half points behind 4th so a good win here will close the gap. For Nth Beach the break can’t come quick enough for them and I really can’t see a miracle happening here for them today so it’s the home side for me
Osborne Park 8-0
JOONDALUP v BASSENDEAN
JOONDALUP

The Dolphins return home and will have their flippers full as the take on the inform Lions. The Dolphins are yet to win a game at home and really need to start if they are any chance of holding onto premier next season. For Basso well what a win last week against Doubleview and will be very confident of going back-to-back away wins as they go in unchanged. With the way the Lions are going I can’t tip against them
Bassendean 6-2
CAMBRIDGE v SOUTH PERTH
CAMBRIDGE

Match of the round without a doubt and we have a top of the table clash with the top placed Millers on the road to take on Cambridge. The Knights jumped into second spot last week getting a maximum over Nth Beach and a win for them today will see them at the top of the ladder. As for the Millers well what a season they have had so far, not only did they lose 6 players in the off season but are currently without Glenn Pauling and Paul Davies and yet still sit on the top of the table. They haven’t lost since round 1 and will go in confident having the same surface. I will take my hat off to them if they can win this but with the form that the Knights are in I’ve got to go the home side
