THORNLIE v KARDINYA

THORNLIE

C Vinci, S Vinci, R McNamara, B Regan

OUTS: S Garner

Great news for Thornlie with the inclusion of Eddie Gollan back for the last game before xmas. This helps to strengthen the back end considerably and gives Thornlie a much better chance of toppling Kardinya in what is really a must win match at home. Kardinya returned to the winners list last week with a narrow victory and will be looking to make it two wins on the trot. On paper both teams look evenly matched and expect this to be a close match but given Thornlie are playing at home and Karninya’s recent form has been patchy expect Thornlie to come out on top.
Thornlie 6-2

ROCKINGHAM v DALKEITH NEDLANDS

ROCKINGHAM
B Edwards, K Tremlett, J Lethlean, T Rubery
M Devenny, P Villa, I Barrett, S Wales
L Atkins, G Roberts, I Wright, D Poole
M Simpson, S Currie, T Threlfall, K Fyles
INS: M Devenny
OUTS: R McIlveen

DALKEITH NEDLANDS
L Richardson, D Redeckis, T Allen, R Kelly
M Saunders, M Green, P Jeanes, J Shaw
Jesse Brown, J Morgan, S Gazia, B Owen
A Foster, M Zusman, D Fitzgerald, M Joyce
INS: M Green, T Allen
OUTS: K Macpherson, R Moran

The battle between the two promoted teams should be an interesting encounter. Rockingham have had a great season to date sitting in the top 4 leading into xmas and have been competitive in most matches this season. They are well led by the talented Marcus Simpson although I note the loss of key skipper Russell McIlveen will not help Rockingham’s chances given his 5 wins from 7 matches so far this season. Dalkeith are also doing well with 4 wins however all of these have been home victories. They are also being well led by Jesse Brown who has suffered only one defeat for the season. On this basis it is hard to go against Rockingham and I expect them to record a comfortable win at home.
Rockingham 7-1

Vic Park the form team coming into this weeks match with 7 wins on the trot. Playing at home against a Fremantle team that was well beaten by Kalamunda last week it is hard to mount a case for the visitors. Since the arrival of Lee Such and his talented 3rd Drew Daley the fortunes of Vic Park have been turned around. It shows just what a difference a couple of players can make to a club’s fortunes. With the race for stop spot now down to 2 teams every match and every point will be vital. Vic Park will definitely be eyeing a full count this week at home and I expect that they will go into xmas a pretty happy club.
Vic Park 8-0

FORRESTFIELD v WARNBRO

FORRESTFIELD
J Weppner, C Holland, A Keegan, F Gore

B Kalinowsky, D Watson, L Blechynden, D Fitzpatrick
Dr G Jackson, T Ball, B McDougall, P Hartnett
INS: T Ball, L Blechynden
OUTS: A Henneker, M Jaworski

Another important match for both sides. Forrestfield will be desperate for a win to start climbing the ladder and every home match will be critical. They will go into this match as strong favourites against a Warnbro outfit that struggles away from home. Forrestfield’s form has generally been very strong and I expect them to climb the ladder during the 2nd half of the season. I can’t see Warnbro really troubling them this week and expect a comfortable Forrestfield win.
Forrestfield 7-1

KALAMUNDA v SOUTH PERTH

KALAMUNDA
I Cornthwaite, D Park, B Farrant, D Connell
W Olive, A Bartlett, S Anning, M Thomas
D Wooltorton, G Trevaskis, P Townsend, B Solly
B Brandsma, M Gill, A Brandsma, M Clancy
INS: M Thomas
OUTS: V Hughes

SOUTH PERTH
M McRae, M Petrich, T Percival, G Bennett
S Kelly, F Anderson, D Reagan, J Cunningham
D Mortley, G Reagan, B Roelefs, G Bovell
P Holmes, W Bezant, R Negus, J Terrell
INS: S Kelly
OUTS: T Reid

Top of the ladder Kalamunda take on South Perth in the final match for round 9. South Perth returned to form last week with a good win at home and will be helped by the return of Steve Kelly this week. But Kalamunda have really bounced back after a surprise loss to Dalkeith a few weeks back and they will be in no mood for any charity this week. For them to finish on top come season’s end they will need to win every home game and expect a comfortable win this week. The main interest will be on whether the Brandsma rink can go thru the first half of the season undefeated. They will be a Winx type odds this week and what a great effort it would be to achieve this feat.
