Great to get a full round of fixtures in on the weekend. One big upset and some interesting results overall. Let’s have a quick at some of the key points to emerge from Saturday’s results:
- Vic Park are still flying and they must be a great chance to go thru the rest of the season undefeated. Rockingham really made them earn it on the weekend but they found a way again. If they could go thru the season with just one defeat it would really be an impressive performance particularly when there only loss was in Round 1.
- Thornlie’s win over Kalamunda has really opened up a fight for 2nd spot. Great win by Thornlie away from home and they are starting to hit their straps but Rockingham, Kardinya and Forrestfield are all now hot in pursuit of Kalamunda in 2nd spot.
- Warnbro dominated Dalkeith on the weekend to record an 8 nil victory and get themselves right back up the ladder. Dalkeith played their worst game of the season and will need to re group this week in preparation for a vital match against Fremantle next Saturday.
- Kardinya can thank the Vinci party who recorded a comfortable win and allowed Kardinya to carry the aggregate against Fremantle to the tune of 6-2. Despite Freo being on the bottom they did fight hard and Kardinya will be happy to get the points away from home. They return home this week where they are always hard to beat.
- Forrestfield comfortably in the end over South Perth with the Rhys brothers both recording strong wins. South Perth face a grand final this Saturday vs Warnbro in a must win clash.
In summary we are doing to the final 5 matches. Here’s how I see things playing out:
- Vic park clearly No 1
- I still have Kalamunda slight favourites for 2nd spot but Rockingham, Kardinya, Forrestfield and possible Thornlie will push hard for that spot and the all important 3rd place
- The remaining 4 teams in Warndro, Dalkeith, South Perth and Freo are in my eyes destined for the bottom 4 it’s just what order that they will finish in.
- This weeks fixtures will really help to shape that battle with Dalkeith at home vs Freo and South Perth at home vs Warnbro. Time to put your best foot forward for all teams and look forward to our preview of all matches on Friday.
