Getting down to the business end of the season and only 1 point separates the top 4. Manning the only other team with a chance of making the finals after beating the leaders while Sorrento get themselves out of the beef with their first win since round 5. Hot weather threatens another abandoned fixture which will hurt a couple of clubs but lets go through the results.
Manning 67 (7) vs Mt Lawley 64 (1)
(Lewis Grigg 16 - Corey Bessant 14) (Shane Knott 19 - Mark Masel 18) (Thomas Mitchell 13 - Darren Rowland 17) (William Hyatt 19 - Daniel Trewhella 15)
Manning still giving themselves a chance of going for the 3peet by knocking off top of the table Mt Lawley by 3 shots. While all the rinks were close it was wins for Grigg, Knott and Hyatt that sealed Eagles 7 points for the home side. Manning now will be watching the temperature gage immensely this week in hope they get out to play Cambridge. If its called off they will remain 7.5 points out of the 4 and would require 1 of the top sides to lose 2 out of their last 4 matches to be any chance of finals, I think they would just about be goneski. The loss for the Mounters drops them back to 4th but only a point out from first, they head back home to take on Sorrento this week, they too will be wanting the fixture to go ahead.
Sorrento have gotten themselves off the bottom of the ladder with a much-needed win over the Lions. While the margin was only 13 shots it was across all 4 rinks getting 8 valuable points to get out of the beef. Bassendean are now no chance of finals but would also be wanting to play as they host Nth Beach this week. Sorrento head on the road to take on Mt Lawley.
North Beach 66 (1) vs Doubleview 102 (7)
(Chris Margin 21 - Ryan Moyle 26) (Gavin Crosthwaite 18 - Kyle McIlroy 22) (Joe McGinlay 8 - Charlie Slavich 37) (Mark Douthie 19 - Anthony Williams 17)
Nth Beach v Doubleview
Doubleview have continued their winning way getting 7 points at Nth Beach. While the margin was 36 shots, 3 out of the 4 rinks were close. It was the big win by Charlie Slavich over Joe McGinlay by 29 shots that put the aggregate to bed for the visitors and are looking strong contenders for the flag. The loss for Nth Beach now puts them down to the bottom of the ladder, I think it will be back to white for them next year.
A 7 shot win and 7 points to the Knights as they get chocolates over at Osborne Park. The win gets them within half a point of top spot and looking good to have another crack at the finals. For the Saints they will be very disappointed with their season, the loss ends their finals hopes and are now playing for club pride.
South Perth 85 (7) vs Joondalup 64 (1)
(Glenn Pauling 20 - Jimmy Buchanan 16) (Justin Opie 24 - Ben Leggett 7) (Ross Bresland 14 - Chris Leggett 28) (Scott Walker 27 - Wes Neilson 13)
Our final game of the round sees the Millers returning to the top of the table with a solid 21 shot win. Opie and Walker getting the big wins with extra point coming from Pauling. Big game next week should they get out there as they head to Doubleview. Joondalup are now back in the danger zone and would be wanting to get the opportunity to get some home points as they take on the Saints.
