The week that was saw the top 5 aides taking on the bottom 5 with the bottom sides keeping a few teams honest and nearly won the lot. Sth Perth and Doubleview just hanging on for a win and both on equal points at the top. The next 3 sides all going down and the fight is on for the last 2 spots in the finals. At the other end its still up in the air though Sorrento in the best position at the moment. Some big games coming up but let’s go through the results.
Sorrento with back to back home wins keeps them sitting safe in 8th spot with 3 weeks to go. 6 valuable points but I’m lead to believe it could very nearly of been all 4 rinks. It was the Father and Son combo that got the points for the visitors with Cam getting a 4 on the last end to get over the fine wine while Father Pieter playing a bomb with his last to beat Cunningham. Even though the Knights went down they still hang on to 3rd spot on the ladder, they will return back home next week to take on Nth Beach.
North Beach 77 (6.5) vs Mt Lawley 75 (1.5)
(Chris Margin 15 - Daniel Trewhella 23) (Gavin Crosthwaite 24 - Darren Rowland 17) (Mark Douthie 20 - Corey Bessant 17) (Richard Aitken 18 - Mark Masel 18)
Nth Beach just holding on with a 2 shot win at home over the Mounters. The win keeps them within reach of Sorrento sitting 5 and a half points behind. Daniel Trewhella was only winners for the away side and now face both South Perth and Doubleview on the road. They must to win at least 1 of these games I feel in order to make the finals.
Manning 69 (2) vs Osborne Park 79 (6)
(Cody Packer 17 - Segan Pasalich 23) (Lewis Grigg 13 - Jack East 24) (Shane Knott 21 - Sean Mawdsley 15) (Thomas Mitchell 18 - John Goddard 17)
The Saints giving the Eagles some grief as they walk away with 6 points and a 10 shot win. What a debut for Segan Pasalich getting a 6 shot win over Cody Packer and Jack East with an 11 shot win over Grigg. Fortunately for Manning both Cambridge and Mt Lawley also went down so it still keeps them in the hunt. They have the bottom 3 sides left and need to win them all and hope for some results to go their way. I’ve still got them playing finals this year.
Another close finish here but the Millers hold on with a 2 shot win. From reports I believe the home side were well in control by about 25 at one stage before Rauri Kenyon made a late run picking up 13 shots in his last 3 ends. The Millers now face Mt Lawley at home on Friday night which should be a cracker. If they can win their last 2 home games, it will guarantee them a top 2 spot and maybe even a home final. The Lions now return back home for the next 2 rounds.
Doubleview 81 (7) vs Joondalup 77 (1)
(Anthony Williams 22 - Wes Neilson 17) (Charlie Slavich 13 - Ben Leggett 27) (Kyle McIlroy 17 - Chris Leggett 15) (Ryan Moyle 29 - Patrick Daley 18)
Doubleview surviving a real scare from the Dolphins but now sit equal with Sth Perth on top of the ladder. Ben Leggett has continued a very solid year for him with a 14 shot win over Charlie Slavich. The Dolphins I’m lead to believe held match until Ant Williams trailed the jack with his last bowl to seal the win for the View. They now head to the den to take on Bassendean next week who did knock them over at home. Joondalup have 2 out of their last 3 at home and away also to Basso. It looks like its going to come down to the last round when they host Sorrento to see who survives.
