The final round will see who gets the home finals and who will get relegated. Doubleview and Sth Perth will both get the second chance to make the grand final but it’s the View that just have a slight advantage being a point in front. The Knights just need a rink at home to cement their spot in the finals and the defending champs Manning have flown home and now looking good to go for their 3rd straight flag. The away fixtures have caught up with Mt Lawley as they have fallen out of the 4 and will need a win plus a Nth Beach miracle in order to play finals. Joondalup host Sorrento with the winner staying up in premier and Nth Beach require the upset of the season if they also want to hang on. We are in for an exciting finish but let’s go through the results.
Doubleview 88 (6) vs Mt Lawley 72 (2)
(Anthony Williams 19 - Corey Bessant 25) (Charlie Slavich 23 - Darren Rowland 13) (Kyle McIlroy 17 - Daniel Trewhella 23) (Ryan Moyle 29 - Cameron Green 11)
Doubleview getting their final home win for the year with a 14 shot win over Mt Lawley. Ryan Moyle’s rink with their 18 shot win over Cam Green will see him finish on top of skippers ladder regardless what happens next week. The win for the home side now puts them in the box seat as they head to Cambridge for the last round. 7 points will guarantee them a home final. As for Mt Lawley its all gone pear shape in the last month, the loss sees them drop out of the 4 for the first time since round 6. All they can do now is get a win when the host Bassendean and hope that Nth beach can pull off a miracle when they head to Manning.
Manning doing exactly what they needed to do getting 7 points with their 9 shot win over Sorrento. The win jumps them into the top 4 and unless something extreme happens next week they will be heading into the finals to defend their title once again. Sorrento now are in major heck, its now a must win for them when they head to Joondalup next week otherwise it back to white next season.
North Beach 82 (5.5) vs Osborne Park 80 (2.5)
(Gavin Crosthwaite 22 - Segan Pasalich 22) (Joe McGinlay 23 - Jack East 11) (Mark Douthie 16 - John Goddard 25) (Richard Aitken 21 - Sean Mawdsley 22)
Nth Beach aren’t ready to throw the towel in just yet as they made a huge run home to defeat the Saints by 2 shots. I was tipping it to be a close one with a 1 rink win for the home side and it was the rink of Joe McGinlay by 12 over Jack East. Nth Beach now can make 2 things possible when they head to Manning next week. If they can find a way to beat them not only will they survive but can also knock them out of the finals, however a loss and its back to white also for them next year. The Saints might have let a finals hope slip here but they head back home hoping to finish off their season with a win when they host Sth Perth.
Bassendean 71 (2) vs Joondalup 72 (6)
(David Rhodes 17 - Wes Neilson 21) (Ruairi Kenyon 18 - Patrick Daley 20) (Simon Alden 20 - Ben Leggett 19) (Wayne Neilson 16 - Chris Leggett 12)
The Dolphins giving themselves a hope of hanging onto premier winning a 1 shot thriller at the den. The game looked to be a beauty with all 4 rinks being close but it was the visitors walking away with the win. Joondalup now head home in the final round to take on Sorrento and a win will see them safe for next year. For Basso the horror second half continues and fortunately for them the finish line will come just in time before beef territory can get to them, the head to Mt Lawley in the last round and would love to finish off with a win.
A comfortable win for the Millers in a mixed bag of results. No games were close but it was the 2 big rink wins for the Millers that got them home. Ross Bresland with a huge win over Clive Adams and was backed up with another huge win by Justin Opie. Its going to be a close finish for top spot as the Millers head to Osborne Park next week but are guaranteed a top 2 finish regardless what happens but a win will put the pressure on Doubleview. The Knights will be looking to finish off strongly when the host Doubleview next week heading into finals
