Hi everyone, well somehow I did not send my preview, so I will add some of my thoughts before the game to the review. The results this week have certainly evened up the competition and every win is super important. Four sides with a 3 and 1 record and every team has won a game this season. Should make for an interesting year.
Quinns Rocks 102 (6.5) vs Wanneroo 67 (1.5)
(Christopher Parr 20 - Kingsley Toster 20) (Hugh Ward 22 - David Anderson 16) (Rohan Cantrill 20 - Martin Nievelstein 25) (Steve Oneill 40 - Michael Golding 6)
Before the game, it was easily the game of the round for me. This was a chance for both sides to show their worth. I predicted a Quinns Rock win, but certainly not be such a large margin. O'Neill winding back the clock to smash the Golding rink. The other three rinks were close in the end but it is very hard to cover a 34 shot loss.
Osborne Park 86 (8) vs Morley 53 (0)
(Lee Farrell 22 - Les Spinks 13) (Mark Pasalich 20 - Allan Boorer 17) (Neville Stevens 18 - Victor Orchard 14) (Robert Lawrence 26 - Wayne Mitchell 9)
Sorrento 94 (7) vs Swan 73 (1)
(David Dunstan 27 - Brian Davis 12) (Lance Martin 31 - Daniel Foster 13) (Leith Oldham 24 - Sharyn Mercer 17) (Ronald Rogers 12 - Tony Natalotto 31)
Got news before the game that Swan were going to be without Urquhart due to back surgery, so this was always going to be a hard game for Swan. The Martin rink was covering the Natalotto rink and it was up to the reliable Dunstan rink to get a nice lead with Oldham rounding out a 7 v 1 aggregate win.
North Beach 78 (6) vs Yokine 65 (2)
(Garry Barr 17 - Erron Martin 21) (Garry Booker 26 - Brett Marron 8) (Lee Mitten 19 - Paul Kelly 18) (Richard Hunter 16 - Shane Shaw 18)
I was told Shaw had a day out and helped his side get a point but North Beach once again showed why their always hard to beat at home. They made up for their loss against Quinns at home, maybe the wind was not as painful for the beachside team. The second time I've been told that the Sausage Rolls at North Beach are worth the drive, maybe other clubs should get on board? Lovely electronic score boards were a treat. Yokine will have to bounce back with a Friday night home game. (6.30pm for those that are interested)
North Perth 70 (1) vs Joondalup 82 (7)
(Anthony Kay 29 - Glen Oakley 16) (Benjamin Horwood 13 - David Urquhart 22) (Markus Merz 17 - Mark Ryan 19) (Nicholas Reagan 11 - Brian McMurdo 25)
Well this was a slight shock in the end, I had personally moved Joondalup to my bottom ranked side. Oakley, with his first attempt at skipping in the division, had a rough day against the experienced Kay. Horwood suffered his first defeat and McMurdo maintained Reagans tough start to the season. There were a few changes to the Reagan rink, but they did not seem to help him this week. Merz and Ryan had a close match all day with Ryan getting the chocolates in the end.
