Another interesting round in One Blue South. The top 3 teams - Kalamunda, Vic Park and Kardinya all recorded wins and with Warnbro losing to Dalkeith a gap has opened up between the top 3 and the chasing pack. Kalamunda and Vic Park both recording away victories and this is what sets them apart from the rest of the teams at this stage of the season. A great fixture coming up this week with Kalamunda taking on Kardinya in a 1st vs 3rd clash. Could Kardinya slay the dragon this week away from home in what should be an exciting match.
Thornlie 74 (1) vs Kalamunda 84 (7)
(Daniel Slade 18 - William Brandsma 21) (Eddie Gollan 25 - Wayne Olive 19) (Michael Yates 14 - Ian Cornthwaite 21) (Norman Holden 17 - Dwayne Wooltorton 23)
Kalamunda come away with 7 points in close match against Thornlie to remain top of the table at the end of round 4. The Brandsma rink remain undefeated and wins to Ian Cornthwaite and Dwayne Wooltorton was enough to secure the Agg. The Eddie Gollan rink was again best for Thornlie with a solid 6 shot win over Wayne Olive. Thornlie will be disappointed to lose at home but Kalamunda are the team to beat and will be a tough proposition in any match this season.
Rockingham 59 (1) vs Victoria Park Carlisle 89 (7)
(Bruce Edwards 15 - David Florance 19) (Lindsay Atkins 7 - Graeme Wishart 27) (Marcus Simpson 22 - Michael Adams 16) (Russell McIlveen 15 - Lee Such 27)
Tremendous 7-1 victory from Vic Park down at Rockingham on Saturday. Strong Rumours circulating that Lee Such and his rink headed down early to Rockingham on the Friday evening for some team bonding exercises. This careful plan allowed the boys some extra time to roll up on the Saturday morning and it certainly paid dividends with Such recording a strong 12 shot win over the previously undefeated McIIveen rink. Graeme Wishart continued his excellent form with a 20 shot win over Lindsay Atkins to also remain undefeated so far this season. The only winner for Rockingham was Marcus Simpson with a 6 shot win.
Kardinya 87 (6.5) vs Fremantle 67 (1.5)
(Conn Vinci 28 - Dinko Golem 13) (Geoffrey White 17 - John Smith 17) (Ian Barrie 17 - Shaun McCormack 26) (Norm Ball 25 - Brian McCarthy 11)
Kardinya recorded a comfortable victory at home with a 6.5-1.5 win over Fremantle to remain in the top 4. The Vinci boys were back on track with a dominant 15 shot win over Dinko. The other big winner was Norm Ball who is in career best form and recorded a 14 shot win over Brian McCarthy. Ball recently joined the local health club and is said to be doing around 2 hours a day of pilates, yoga and weights and this is clearly paying dividends. The only winner for Fremantle was Shaun McCormack with a 9 shot win over Ian Barrie.
Dalkeith Nedlands 86 (7) vs Warnbro 63 (1)
(Andrew Foster 18 - George Jackson 21) (Jesse Brown 27 - John Radford 15) (Lindsay Richardson 23 - Troy Dellar 15) (Martin Saunders 18 - Barry Kalinowsky 12)
Great 7-1 win from Dalkeith over Warnbro on Saturday to keep their season alive. The Jesse Brown rink leading the way plus wins to Lindsay Richardson and Martin Saunders were enough for the 7 points. The good Dr G and his rink were best for Warnbro with a solid 3 shot win over Andrew Foster. So far both teams look top be competitive at home but are yet to fire in away matches. Both will be looking to record some away wins if they intend to push higher up the ladder over the course of the season.
South Perth 89 (6) vs Forrestfield 73 (2)
(David Mortley 15 - Rhys Tillemans 24) (Michael McRae 17 - Rhys Cummings 24) (Peter Holmes 26 - Corey Holland 12) (Steve Kelly 31 - Jarad Weppner 13)
A solid win at home from South Perth doing what the needed to do over Forrestfield to grab 6 important points. The Holmes and Kelly rinks reigned supreme over Holland and Weppner respectively. This allowed them to comfortably cover defeats to the hard to beat rinks of Doc Mortley and Mick McCrae. Forrestfield again very competitive and will be looking forward to getting back to home next Saturday. After a slow start to the season South Perth look to be building into form and on paper look to have a team that can push for finals.
