Again no Suchy as he jets his way to Queensland to compete in the BPL Cup. Good luck Suchy and all of our WA representatives.
all Round 4 did really was to show how even the competition is this year as only 3 points separate the top 5 sides, we have no sides undefeated and Joondalup still waiting to break the duck although they were gallant in defeat.
The Friday night game in what promised to be a highly competitive game fizzed out with Manning bouncing back from their loss last Sunday to score a convincing 34 shot win. Daniel Trewhella the only winner for Mt Lawley again his old teammates by 2 but the other 3 Manning rinks too good, Cody Packer and his 26 shot in the highlight. Manning move into 3rd spot while Mt Lawley dropped back to 4th.
Doubleview 99 (8) vs North Beach 53 (0)
(Anthony Williams 22 - Gavin Crosthwaite 11) (Charlie Slavich 22 - Chris Margin 13) (Kyle McIlroy 24 - Mark Douthie 11) (Ryan Moyle 31 - Joe McGinlay 18)
Doubleview jumped to the top of the table with their 46 shot and 8 point win over North Beach. It looks a solid 4 rink effort by the View, the 13 shot wins to Ryan Moyle and Kyle McIlroy getting the pots. North Beahc with 0 points from their 2 away games still havent addresses that issue, mind you not sure how they can but their away record is what might has them in trouble at the end of the year.
Cambridge 74 (1) vs Osborne Park 77 (7)
(Blake Nairn 16 - John Goddard 26) (Cameron Harris 22 - Jack East 9) (Clive Adams 15 - Sean Mawdsley 20) (Pieter Harris 21 - Ryan Brown 22)
A bit of surprise here but Osborne Park showed they were better than the winless team after 3 rounds with their 3 shot win and a valuable 7 points over Cambridge. Cameron Harris tris his best to drag his team over the line with his 13 win, but this was offset by John Goddards 10 shot win. Cambridge havent really hit their straps yet with the good ins they had it just hasn't clicked yet but expect that to turn around. Osborne Park can now breathe and expect that team to climb the ladder in coming weeks.
Joondalup 69 (2) vs South Perth 71 (6)
(Ben Leggett 22 - Justin Opie 9) (Shane Rixom 13 - Scott Walker 19) (Stein Davies 16 - Paul Davies 26) (Wes Neilson 18 - Ross Bresland 17)
Gotta feel for Joondalup chasing their first win as a last bowl by Ross Bresland killed their dreams as South Perth grab the points and while they sit 5th it's really only 3 points from top so they are right in this. Joondalup nearly had it, their first win in the PL but it wasn't to be and even though they sit 10th they have shown themselves to be very competitive at this level.
Bassendean 77 (6.5) vs Sorrento 66 (1.5)
(David Rhodes 16 - Paul Knight 16) (Ruairi Kenyon 19 - Bruce Eagles 22) (Troy Kinnane 17 - Chris Lander 16) (Wayne Neilson 25 - Rhett Butler 12)
A close hard fought game at Bassendean seem them grab 6.5 points and an 11 shot win. Bassendean had their nose in front all day but Sorrento pushed and got within 3 with a handful of ends to play before Bassendean rallied to close it out. Wayne Neilson the hero for the home team delivering a 13 shot to carfry the aggregate. Troy Kinnane in his first PL game as skipper was cruising to the rink win but Chris Lander won the last 7 ends of that match to make it close. Bassendean sit 2nd and they'd be stoked with the start they've had and Sorrento a bit opposite to previous years, maybe this year they will get into the 4 at the end of the season rather than drop out of it.
