Just one more match next Saturday taking us thru to the half way point of the season. In the results for this week we saw:
- Kalamunda dominate Fremantle to get 8 points with the Brandsma rink continuing to win
- Vic Park get a good away win at Warnbro with 7 points
- Dalkeith scramble a win at home over Forrestfield thanks to the performance of the Jesse Brown rink
- South Perth return to form defeating Thornlie at home for 7 points
- And finally in the close one for the round Kardinya fell over the line with a 4 shot Agg win over Rockingham.
We definitely have a 2 tier competition with Kalamunda and Vic Park leading the way locked together on top of the ladder after both recorded strong victories over the weekend. Kalamunda absolutely crushed Fremantle and return to top position by virtue of a superior percentage. Vic Park were just as impressive with a strong away win at Warnbro. With both sides expected to win next week it sets that stage for a huge clash in Round 1 after the xmas break when both sides will meet at Vic Park. Two very strong side both with there eye on promotion so really looking forward to that match.
The next 8 teams are separated by just 10 points and they will all be scrambling for the next 4 positions and safety for next season. Let’s have a quick look at which sides might make it to safety:
- Firstly I favour both Warnbro and Kardinya who both have strong home ground advantages I expect both will be safe come the end of the season given that they both should be able to get enough points at home. Kardinya had their first win for some weeks by defeating Rockingham in a very close match. Warnbro lost at home but they were playing Vic Park. Maybe the home ground advantage is not as strong as it used to be so I see Warnbro being right on the cusp of the safety line.
- For the remaining two positions I favour Rockingham and Forrestfield. At this point both of these sides seem to be able to perform better on the road than the rest and they could sneak the odd away win plus play well at home I see both sides making it thru to next season.
That leaves 4 teams trying to stay out of the bottom 2. More on this after the Christmas break!
