We have now reached the half way point of the season with the completion of Round 9. Another very interesting round again showing the evenness of the competition with the highlights this week being:
- Vic Park go clear at the top with win number 8 in a row and 8 points over Fremantle who drop back to 10th position on the ladder;
- Kalamunda suffer a shock loss at home over an improving South Perth side to drop back to 2nd place on the ladder. South Perth with 2 wins on the trot now up to 8th;
- Dalkeith secure a surprise away win over Rockingham with a 1 shot victory and 6 very important points to move up to 3rd place;
- Forrestfield get the job done at home over Warnbro thanks mainly to the Rhys Tillemans rink with a plus 26 result;
- Thornlie by 40 shots over Kardinya to secure a valuable 7 points and move up to 9th position.
This all means that Vic Park now lead Kalamunda by 5.5 points making the clash in Round 10 at Vic Park all the more important. A win by Vic Park would likely make it very difficult for Kalamunda to chase them down. The remaining 8 sides are chasing the all important next 4 spots on the ladder and guaranteed safety.Dalkeith with their win on the weekend are now up into 3rd position but the ladder is still very congested and I expect that positions will still be up for grabs come the final round of the season. Special mention should also be made of the following points:
- The Brandsma rink did end round 9 undefeated although the Doc Mortley rink made them really earn it with a 1 shot margin. Congratulations to Brandsma x 2, Mark Gill and Mark Clancy on a special achievement;
- Graeme Wishart sits in second place with 8 wins from 9 games played and wouldn’t it be great to see both rinks go head to head in round 10
- Jesse Brown supported by former West Perth star John Morgan is 7.5 wins from 8 matches played and throwing his hat in for rink of the season honours
- Finally special mention to Marcus Simpson, Rhys Tillemans, Dr G and Ian Cornthwaite who have all had positive results up until round 9
Really looking forward to the re start after xmas and new year in what should be a pressure packed finish to the season with every point likely to be very important Enjoy the break and will report back for Round 10 in early January
