***changes are from the last game played***

Round 1 is here and just when we thought we had no more surprise ins or outs a couple of sneaky’s have come into play. With open gender now here we will see some of the states best females taking on the guys, its going to be a interesting season and we have some good matchup’s this week so lets have a look at our opening fixture.

The Lions hosting the Cats at the den and this one should be a beauty to kick us off. The Lions have changed greens this season and will be looking to get their home record back on track. For Kardy its their first game back in the comp and will be looking to pounce and possibly sneak an away win. Mr 360 makes his return to the skippers role and will be hoping to lead his boys to a win and I think they can do it also.
Bassendean 7-1

INS: H Packer, Krstic, Hudson, Davidson, Holt, Titheradge, Hogg, Perica
OUTS: Heal, Downey, Hyatt, Knott, Grigg, Ellis, Butler, C Packer

Very keen to see how this one pans out and should be another great game as the Saints host the Eagles. The home team have lost some quality in the off season but still have a very good side on paper. The Eagles gaining a big in with Warren Holt and Joined by Jon Davidson will be looking to have an impact. The Golden Girls have had a massive couple of weeks in the Gold Coast, but Hailey Packer and Kristina Krstic are in fresh from their gold medal win in the Australian fours. The Saints have gone with the youth at the back end and Manning still with some players to come back later on but I’m going the home side this week
Osborne Park 7-1

Cambridge v South Perth

Grant Allen, Andrew Tennant, Steven Rushforth, Cameron Harris (28,33,1)

South Perth
Neale Griffin, Ryan Havercroft, Mitchell Biglin, Ross Bresland (109,82,6)
John Percival, Tod Weir, Marcus Sear, Justin Opie (147,112,6)
Derek Angell, Troy Kinnane, Paul Davies, Scott Walker (74,78,7)
Helen Morss, Tom Antonio, John Carter, Glenn Pauling (87,53,5)
INS: Weir, Sear, Kinnane, Antonio, Morss
OUTS: Galipo, Dawson, T Percival, Moretti, Wardrop

Match of the round sees a couple of teams who are flag contenders as the Knights host the Millers. I did pick the Knights to win the flag but Sweeney has returned to Nth Beach and I don’t think we will see too much of Jimmy Buchanan in the first half as he normally heads back to Scotland. The Millers have had some players come back and Tod Weir comes into the lineup, but I think possibly the missing link and the key to winning the flag could be Helen Morss as she makes her debut. It’s the battle of the synthetics and this one could go either way but I’m going to go with the away side to walk away with the chocolates
Sth Perth 6-2

Safety Bay v Mount Lawley

Safety Bay
David Smith, Robert Parr, David Newton, Matthew Mortensen (0,0,0)
Joel Thorington, Peter Webster, Zac Boddy, Graeme Smith (3,6,1)
Ryan Newick, Scott Foran, Christopher Owen, Grant Taylor (1,6,0)
Jim Hanafee, Gary Ogg, Stephen Hide, Chris Carruthers (6,8,3)
INS: Newick, Webster, G Smith, Newton, Parr
OUTS: Bochat, Brannan, Massari, Owen, Ballard

Mount Lawley
Paul Sinden, Chris Schell, Cameron Green, Ben Leggett (9,7,0)
Kyle Cornell, Phil Jones, Jeffrey Bessant, Corey Bessant (19,14,1)
Adam Graham, Anthony Einfeld, Mark Masel, Shane Knott (92,57,8)
Travis Ingram, Shane Loftus, Darren Rowland, Daniel Trewhella (148,74,7)
INS: Cornell, Schell, Leggett, Knott
OUTS: Park, Ruwoldt, Herriot, Scott

Safety Bay make their return to premier as the host Mt Lawley. A good back half last time these guys were in the comp saw them very competitive and if they can play like that we could see them give their opponents some grief this year. Mt Lawley with 2 new skippers in Shane Knott and Ben Leggett will be looking to kick off their season with a win. Mt Lawley will be glad to get this one out of the way early and I think the conditions should be pretty good this time of year and I think they will be too strong today
Mt Lawley 7-1

Sorrento v Doubleview

Sorrento
Greg Taylor, Peter Flack, Simon Deering, Bruce Eagles (35,30,0)
Mark Douglass, Peter Augustson, Murray Hulbert, Ross Cunningham (3,5,1)
Geoff Murray, Ricky Hutchinson, Stephen Buckley, Rhett Butler (119,126,7)
Steve Mortimer, Wade Clatworthy, Chris Leggett, Paul Knight (14,20,1)
INS: Deering, Hutchinson, Clatworthy, Leggett
OUTS: Morgan, Wattleworth, Sharrett, Rogers

Doubleview
Gary Nelson, Ben Willesee, Addy Wetzler, Charles Slavich (96,60,5)
Blair Griffiths, Bradley Pearce, Bradley White, Ryan Moyle (81,37,3)
Gavin Faulkner, Stephen Cerff, Tom Whitfield, Kyle McIlroy (116,102,6)
David Cosgrove, Ben Conway, John Slavich, Anthony Williams (48,40,5)
INS: Cosgrove, Conway
OUTS: Hansen, Bates

Our final game of the round sees the defending premiers heading to Sorrento. Sorrento only just hanging on last season but have recruited and hoping for a better season this year. Doubleview while they have lost Bates still look really good and I think have far too much experience and should be able to get the job done today.
Doubleview 7-1
