Welcome back bowlers, we hope everyone had a wonderful holidays & feel rested & ready to rip into the back 9. What an exciting 9 rounds we'll have with some memories of a life time. Although it's only 8 rounds as that heat round in R11 gives us an extended break in Feb'25.
We have a serious issue over the last few rounds of some sides just folding way too easily, just no fight, no pride in the guernsey. Over the last 3 Rounds or 15 games we've had 8 games that finished 8-0, that's less than 50% of all games finished with a 8-0. I don't have stats going back more than a decade but I would guess this is somewhat a record & probably not a good one. Are we seeing the age of where the snowflakes meet the sheep, are rinks seeing others lose & just giving up?! I hope not but if the trend continues it will be worrying. Hopefully everyone's comes out firing in R10 as there's no excuses on the back 9. Show-up or someone will take your lunch & likely your club's dream for this season.

The Saints had a excellent draw/win against a strong Leeming outfit in R9, probably their best away game of the season so far. That sort of performance at home would be enough to get them the Agg here.
If previous performances caught people's eye then Basso's last round trumps the Saints by a good margin as the Lions just dominated the Reds away 7-1. Basso go R1 to R7 0-7 then 2 from 2, you couldn't write it but they need the miracles to keep coming if they dream of safety. If Basso were to repeat the heroics here it would be massive for their season.
Yes the Saints are only 1 from 3 but also only lost 1 from the last 5 so it depends how you see the half full glass.

Home side should have this one with some to spare given the Reds last 2 games have been well below par. 1pt from the last 16pts is just pretty poor especially going down by such large margins after going 2 from 2 before that.
In typically North Beach fashion from R3 they have gone WLWLWLW. They need to grab an away win at some stage but that's not the focus this round. The Reds may grab another win or maybe 2 from the back 9 but its difficult to see it happening here unless there's a major reset over the festive period.

Both sides are struggling but probably the Eagles more so running a 1 from 5 over the last few rounds means there's no a target growing on their back as the show some red flags sitting in 9th.
This should be a 'no-debate' win for the home side. Its 2nd playing 9th at home which should be a minimum 7pts & Leeming trashed the Eagles in R1 in the corresponding fixture but yet last season it was a very similar 16 for both sides & they were very evenly matched. Maybe the Lions have shown more improvement over the last year as Eagles maintain the old stalwarts with little improvement & circulating the drain.

The Dolphin's did get back on the horse in R9 but had 0-2 before this so they still may be considered to be on shaky ground. If they consider themselves a top side then this game is a no contest. The top side are back to winning ways but probably only because others have slipped.
Before R9 the Kookaburra's were winning 3 from 4 & one of the hottest sides in the comp but they did have a significant uphill task after a tough start. Yes they got touched up & dropped over 100 shots in their last game & another away will be tough to win but they need some surprise wins away & this would be a huge result.
Hard to see the Dolphins drop this one at home but they looked unbeatable over the 1st 6 rounds & since then look average top 4 side. Home record is very strong over the last few years so they should have enough if they are genuine contenders for the big dance.

GAME OF THE ROUND: Really exciting game here against 2 sides who love to rip strips off each other & it can get a little spicy (which we love). Mossies have gone 2 from the last 6 & the Titans have had 2 x 8-0 in the last 3 games, what a difference.
With a tight game in R1, I felt Mossies kept that Cockburn game tight & may have shown enough to take this one. Mossies had a massive result in R9 but the reality if they have only won 4 games this season so this could swing either way but the Titans away get me nervous but they'll win another away on the back 9 so who knows.
