Very interesting round of fixtures ahead of us this week. Of most significance is the clash of the bottom 4 sides with Dalkeith at home against Warnbro and then Forrestfield at home against Rossmoyne. So clearly that means that the top 6 sides or those who are currently safe for next season will also play amongst themselves. Should be an exciting round and let’s have a quick look.
Kardinya v Cockburn

Cockburn

David Francis, Kevin Yakas, Giuseppi Galipo, Steve Srhoy
Guiseppe Reale, Greg Collier, John Wray, James Wylie
Robert Erskine, Philip Clarke, Kelli Wray, Peter Burgess
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Kardinya with a bullet take on the unpredictable Cockburn side in what should be an exciting clash. No sign yet of the Kardinya team however the introduction of the Henley/Flintoff combination in recent weeks seems to have turned their season around. To be fair they were a likely top 3 side come the end of the season (and Danny Comrie was also flying) but suddenly they have all the momentum and are looking very hard to stop. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the words No Changes underneath the Cockburn side this week. A settled 16 is always a good sign and whilst Cockburn will push hard I cannot see them troubling Kardinya at home.
Kardinya 7-1

Thornlie v Willetton

Thornlie
Arthur Payne, Glyn Vaughan, Jim Stean, Daniel Slade
James (jimmy) Mitchell, David (dj) Mayers, Wayne Wendt, Mark Forrester
Coral Thorn, Darryl Fielder, Michael McGann, Mark Separovich
Pierre De Meuse, Pasquale Riggio, Clive Penaluna, Robert Carruthers
INS: Slade
OUTS: Perryman

Willetton
Ron Bayens, Rob Langley, David Reynolds, Cameron Girvan
Peter McSweeney, Ernest Lagana, Ken Monkhouse, Alan Walters
Rhonda Porter, Greg McMahon, Peter Bartoshefski, Gavin Dodge
John Porter, Maxwell Strange, Trevor Thompson, Justin Wright
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Both teams coming off some pretty poor form from the previous week. The biggest surprise for me was the duck egg next to the Willetton score sheet at home last week given that they had enjoyed a very consistent season to date in their first season back in One Blue. They will be desperate to rebound this week but must travel to Thornlie who play their home deck very well. A couple of weeks back I might have thought that Willetton could win this one but at home I think Thornlie will go in as strong favourites. I think Willetton will bounce back strongly this week and a win is not beyond them but Thornlie will be too strong in the end in a close match.
Thornlie 6-2

Rockingham v Kalamunda

Rockingham
Ivan Wright, Ian Barrett, Pietro Villa, Mark Devenny
Terry Rubery, Rodney George, Graeme Roberts, Bruce Edwards
Fred Smith, Brian French, Victor Arriagada, Lindsay Atkins
Gregory Scott, Tony Threlfall, Kim Tremlett, Marcus Simpson
INS: Scott, Rubery
OUTS: Fyles, McMahon

Kalamunda
Robert Chalmers, Simon Maddy, David Park, Dwayne Wooltorton
Michael Turner, Andrew Brandsma, Mark Gill, William Brandsma
Mark Thomas, Gary McDonald, Arthur Bartlett, Wayne Olive
Trevor Price, Bob Farrant, Mark Potente, Frank Carbone
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Rockingham have fallen of a cliff in recent weeks undoing some good earl season form where a top 3 position looked to be in their grasp. They take on Kalamunda who suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Dalkeith last week and forfeited top spot in the process. No Stuart Currie this week for Rockingham and that is not a good sign as they attempt to rediscover their top form. I think the loss at home last week will jolt Kalamunda back into top form as they try and reclaim top spot from Kardinya. In the end they should have too much class and should come away with a good win against Rockingham
Kalamunda 6-2

Dalkeith Nedlands v Warnbro

Dalkeith Nedlands
Peter Jeanes, David Fitzgerald, Michael Yates, Jesse Brown
Ross Mackenzie, Ron Stapleton, Matthew Green, Martin Saunders
Michael Joyce, Aleksander Gryta, Michael Zusman, Andrew Foster
Rob Kelly, Simon Gazia, Rob Moran, Darren Redeckis
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Warnbro
David Fitzpatrick, Thomas Watson, Danny Watson, Barry Kalinowsky
John Isgar, Les Blechynden, John Radford, Dennis Pattullo
Paul Guelfi, Terry Williams, Garry Watts, Troy Dellar
Peter Hartnett, Colin Hickinbotham, Scott Christie, George Jackson
INS: Foster
OUTS: Blechynden

Dalkeith with the upset last week at Kalamunda whilst Warnbro were back in good form at home to record a much needed win. Dalkeith look to be on a bit of a roll after a very sluggish start to the season. If they can make it 3 in a row they will give themselves a very good chance of exiting the bottom 4 sides. Warnbro can’t seem to bring their home form on away trips but if they are going to survive this season they will likely need to pinch an away win. On paper the Dalkeith side looks to pretty solid with leading skippers in Martin Saunders and Jesse Brown always very competitive. I think that at home they should record a pretty comfortable win over Warnbro.
Dalkeith 7-1

Forrestfield & Districts v Rossmoyne

Forrestfield & Districts
Laurie Delcaro, Kirk Weissflog, Mark Vatri, Rhys Tillemans
Frank Gore, Alex Fewings, Corey Holland, Trent Tillemans
Jack Tillemans, Robert Carr, John Forrest, Glenn Sewell
David Croft, Lee Stedman, Sandra Young, Jarad Weppner
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Rossmoyne
Danny Nolan, John Fitzgerald, Peter Feszczak, Reza Vind
David Horniman, Nigel Edson, Walter Harvey, Craig Edson
Gary Frampton, Anthony Regan, Raymond Halse, Rawley Lang
Allan Herbert, Eeva-Liisa Hynynen, Anthony Churcher, Allan Petchell
INS: Fitzgerald
OUTS: Maesepp

When you get 2 home games in a row and you are in the bottom 4 sides you really do need to take advantage of them and this could be Forrestfield’s moment after a good win last week. Equally you probably don’t want 2 away games in a row as you fight for survival and this is the scenario facing the Rossmoyne side this week. Mayor Lang and his capable deputy Reza Vind will try and wind up the Rossmoyne player group to try and record a much needed away win. A loss this week will make things very difficult and to be honest it would take something pretty herculean to turn things around. I can’t see it happening and will tip Forrestfield to record a pretty comfortable win.
Forrestfield 7-1
