One change for each side this week in what will be a crucial match for both teams chances come the end of the season. Kalamunda with one hand on top spot will need to keep the foot down to ward off a potential late season charge from Kardinya. Forrestfield sitting in 6th place but when they look over their are 4 teams within 5 points so a loss in this one would put them back in the relegation mix. Forrestfield pushed Kalamunda all the way in the first round but with this match being played at Kalamunda they will go in as strong favourites. With Brandsma back to his best form last week and depth across all rinks I think Kalamunda will be too strong in this one.

Grand Final in this one for both sides. When you play a match where both teams are under relegation pressure a win is all the more important. Warnbro have been tough to follow in the 2nd half of the season with the home fortress from previous seasons now not really in play. Thornlie’s form has also tailed right off in recent weeks and the selectors must have been in touch with the Cockburn selectors given 5 changes for this all important match. Not really sure if that is a good or bad thing but we should know by 5pm Saturday afternoon. Very hard match to call but I have a slight leaning towards the home team to win and keep their season alive.

Cockburn now the Warnbro of years gone by with a distinct home ground advantage. Cockburn sit in 5th position some 5 points adrift of Willetton in 3rd position. So a huge game for both teams looking for that coveted 3rd spot on the ladder and some play off action. Willetton has been enormous this season and this in not beyond them the way that they gel as a team but the absence of star skipper Cam Girvan will really hurt them. I think Cockburn can win this one pretty comfortably and put themselves right back in the finals mix come the end of round 16.

Another huge match as 2nd placed Kardinya take on 8th placed Dalkeith. With Kalamunda strong favourites to win their fixture Kardinya need to keep winning to keep the pressure right on the leaders. The current gap between first and second is just 2.5 points so Kardinya need to be ready just in case there is a slip up from Kalamunda over the final 3 matches. Dalkeith like Warnbro need to win this one if they are to have any hope of survival. They are always very competitive but can’t seem to get the big win that they require. Could this be the week that they turn the corner and give themselves a chance - they will try hard and I expect this to be a nail biter to the end but Kardinya may carry a few too many guns.

Big match here for Rossmoyne in particular as they strive to exit the relegation zone. In an effort to sharpen up his teams reflexes and generate more commitment from the team Mayor Lang has called for some boxing sessions before the side heads out to play in their all important fixture this week. Lang who was a handy boxer in his day called up fellow skipper Reza Vind to help him demonstrate how to spar in a safe manner. Reza the smallest man at the club found himself quickly on the deck as Lang thought he was back competing in the golden gloves. But the message was clear the Rossmoyne side needs full commitment this week if they are to defeat the hot and cold Rockingham side. I like the look of the Rockingham team with Currie back in but at home and with all to play for Rossmoyne should be too good.
