Skippers records read as NAME (Win,Loss,Draw)
Again in Lord Such's absence I will be doing the preview for this week. Usually by Round 4 we can see some trends occurring but this season is proving to be wide open, a start contrast to my thoughts at the start of the year. Perhaps we'll see some space after this round with some key games to be played.
South Perth v Osborne Park

it's 2nd v 7th here but the percentage of Osborne Park is 3rd in the League so the ladder position belies there season so far, this game will be more competitive then we might initially think. South Perth have been a most consistent team over many seasons now don't drop too many at home and it's hard to go past them this week. Young Segan Pasalich hasn't lost a game yet in Premier League, who will he draw? Jack East absence for the Saints might prove costly so we will stick with the hopme side here.
South Perth 7-1

The 2 surprise packets of the season to date both with 2 wins and a loss so this game might show us more about the 2 sides. It's at Kardinya and it's always hard to select against the home side when the 2 sides are fairly evenly matched. No changes for either team, a balanced team is a happy team and key to success. Hard to split them really but I'll go for Kardy in a tight one.
Kardinya 6-2
Cambridge v Safety Bay
Cambridge
Luke Bolton, Jamie Conway, Pieter Harris, Andrew Drayton (0W ,0L ,0D)

Jim Hanafee, Gary Ogg, Joel Thorington, Chris Carruthers (6W ,11L ,3D) INS: Smith, Boddy OUTS: Mortensen, Newick
Huge chance for Cambridge to get rolling in the season as they host Safety Bay. Blake Nairn and Clive Adams returning from a week in Queensland with BPL duties so they might be a bit fuzzy but it shouldn't matter, perhaps at Safety Bay this might be a nice upset selection. A change in skippers sees Andrew Drayton make his PL debut as skipper. For Safety Bay they have also had some changes with Matt Mortensen unavailable and his spot taken by Zac Boddy. Is that another Aaron Smith in WA Bowls? How many do we have!! Cambridge should win this one comfortably
Cambridge 8-0
Bassendean v Doubleview
Bassendean
Lloyd McKay, Matthew Watson, Russell Ellis, Simon Alden (59W ,50L ,5D)
Brett Tie, Grant Stokes, Wesley Neilson, David Rhodes (61W ,60L ,5D)

Scott Bermingham, Phillip Hutchinson, Butch Dinnison, Wayne Neilson (30W ,41L ,9D) INS: Wa Neilson OUTS: Pike
Doubleview
Gavin Faulkner, Stephen Cerff, Tom Whitfield, Kyle McIlroy (126W ,111L ,7D)
Gary Nelson, Ben Willesee, Addy Wetzler, Charles Slavich (91W ,50L ,6D)
David Cosgrove, Ben Conway, John Slavich, Anthony Williams (49W ,42L ,5D)
Blair Griffiths, Bradley Pearce, Bradley White, Ryan Moyle (82W ,39L ,3D) INS: Whitfield OUTS: Hansen
Another crucnh game for both teams as Bassendean play home to Doubleview. This will be 3 home games for Bassendean and they need to take advantage of it with a win here. Doubleview with a pull out all your stops win last week and they can breathe now and start the climb up the ladder, Bassendean won't hold any fears for them as they have won here plenty of times previously. Bassendean have done the jobs handed to them so far and will need to win this. It's gonna be a really close game, toss of the coin stuff.
Basso of course!
Mount Lawley v Manning

Mount Lawley sitting pretty on top at the moment and most would have had them in this position so it's a big chance for them so solidify that position with a win over Manning at home. While Manning have won 2 games, they have only 5 rink wins. Rink wins count for so much over the course of the season and winning is good but it will eventually catch up with them, as we saw last week. a loss and they drop down to 5th. Another loss here will see further ladder position drop. But it's hard to see the juggernaut of Mount Lawley get toppled and expect them to win this one.
