R4 already, time is flying towards our eagerly awaited R6 annual predictions, very exciting. Interesting that there’s more than the average changes this week as some sides look at alternative options. We still see some changes across the ladder as the early fixtures have some sides playing the last 2 in a row away or home. Getting some points on those double away games will really count.

GAME OF THE ROUND: After the Lions epic effort last week beating the Titans at Cockburn (yes a draw but we all know who really won), Leeming are now top of the table & the only unbeaten team left in 1 White.
Suchy looks like he’s out putting more pressure on Wishart & that’s surely a focus point for Leeming. If they get a good matchup on the Reds skipper the rest will be an even head on head. Before lasts weekends trip to the Titans I would have called this 50/50 contest & maybe even fav the Reds for an upset but no chance after the rampant Lions ripped the unbeatable Titans apart. Wherever this lands it’s a bellwether game that people need to unpack the result after.
Leeming 7 - 1

The Dolphins are obviously home & hosed here but they’ve had to call on 3 changes which will surely have an impact especially with Rixon out.
The Dolphins are setting up a fortress at home & with North Beach’s away record this will be a major uphill struggle for them. Beating only the bottom side at home by 10 probably does not translate to an upset here but who knows.

Osborne Park v Cockburn

The Saints are tracking nicely in 4th but it’s a mixed bag contributing although Thomas is doing some heavy lifting. Saints weren’t super impressive at home against Manning but they’ll need to step it up a level here against Cockburn who must be fuming at where they sit.
Titans weren’t super impressive supposedly one of the favs for Finals (yes fool me once…..I get it). Forget Cockburns shocking away form, they’re sitting in 9th & without a win here will be a disaster. They need to drop the crocodile tears & show up, if not the Saints have this & to be honest it’s difficult to not back the home side running 2 from 3 so far.
Gosnells
David Bradbury, Rod Worth, Catherine Sharp, Ian Quayle
Michael Byrne, Mike Rickard, Maureen Cooney, Rue Bishop
Ronald McKay, Michael Sharpe, Alex Hodge, Brett Holland
Jeff Watson, Peter Gale, Mark Beauchamp, Glenn Lynch INS: Beauchamp, Sharpe OUTS: Gahan, Paterson
The Eagles showed up last weekend to stop the bleed & with it got their campaign back on track. Yes they got touched up by Leeming in their last home game but look what Leeming have done since. Maybe it wasn’t such a poor display after all against the top side.
Kookaburra’s edged the Saints at home last weekend but it went down to the final end. Like Eagles they needed the W to get their season moving so both sides are in a similar position.
Whoever loses this is probably in genuine trouble a little too early in the season. A real double pointer here.
Manning 7 - 1

Basso lose 2 on the trot at home with R5 away to another bottom side & dropping that go on a very tough journey to Xmas. Long story short, they’re drop the next 2 games & its 1Blue for sure.
Mossies have a chance to jump the home side early & do need some good away wins. They’ll get a very good look here but probably don’t have the away form to drive massive confidence in tipping an upset. Yes Mossies have 2 away games on the trot & they’ll likely convert the corresponding games in Jan’25 but they probably can’t afford to only get 3pts from those 16pts available points if they genuinely seek Finals. Tough contest with the home side setup for a win & will likely get it if they settle early with the 2 changes & get into the groove but there’s a minor chance that Mossies just might find a gap. Close contest
