R5 is starting to show some good trends that we can benchmark off. Happy to be wrong on this one & probably a big call but I really think that South over the last few years has the better teams & I'm backing that to continue going forward for a few years. Yes PL has 5 & 5 North & South, so even split, 1 White have 4 North (and that's given North Mosman Park which is debatable) & 6 South. With on 2 of the top 6 in 1 White North of the river. Obviously 1 Blue is North & South but South with Kalamunda, Kardinya & Willeton looking real dominant & having seen some of those sides lately, they'll fit into 1 White without too much trouble. 1 Blue North probably only have Quinns that might survive 1 White. Interesting to hear you comments but it feels like South has the edge & some of those clubs have plenty of depth in how many sides they put out on a Saturday. Is bowls in the North going 'South'?

After last weeks loss to Leeming the Reds will be fired up. Yes not far off the top side but 2 for 2 sitting 50% will need to change if they are genuine Finals contenders. The Saints are travelling well although they'll be kicking themselves after the 2 shots loss last week & looking to bounce back. However, travelling to the Vic Pk might not be their easiest task this season & they still seem to have that 1 leaky rink that the Reds can pounce on. Thomas & Featherby are still doing the heavy lifting but they'll need all 4 here to grab the chocs.
With the Lord back this week they should have enough on the home track to get this one done.

The Titans had a huge win AWAY from home last week after dropping 1 rare one at home. What are the chances of dropping 2 home games in a row, unsure but I certainly have no stats in recent years to say it's a possibility. Is this one solely depending on 'by how much'?? Fairly close to it I'd imagine as the Titans are keen to move back up the ladder after a slow start. A win here gets them into a Finals spot but the Eagles are already in a Finals spot so are they coming into this in fear....absolutely not & there were only 10 shots in the same game last season so they'll be right up for this.
Happy to make a case for Manning as that Leeming game has held form, they have 2 skippers in the 10 skippers ladder yet Titans have none & other than a runaway Kats last year, for me, the Eagles were the best away team for the season. Now that I make a case for an upset I don't mind Eagles chances actually.

GAME OF THE ROUND: All eyes & a huge bullseye are firmly on the Lions back as they head to North Beach in a tricky encounter that could easily put an end to their unbeaten streak. Both sides haven't meet in many years so it's hard to compare, however, the home side are bullies on that track so the Lions will need their A game.
North have won both games at home but not very convincingly & if they win this I don't think they'll be more than 10 shots in it. If Leeming can beat Cockburn at Cockburn then they can win this, however, North Beach understand that they need probably 8 home wins for the season if they are to stay safe & probably 10 to play Finals or even dream of PL again. Tough call & close game expected but should live up the Game of the Round

4th take on 2nd in a battle for Finals spot. The Dolphins are 5.5pts ahead but that will adjust to parity if Mossies get this one over the line.
Thinking of this game in 2022/23 season Joondalup when the Dolphins went up the PL, they dominated Mossies & nearly put the tonne on Mossies at Mosman Park which was easily the highest score Mossies conceded at home that season, last season & even this season. Yes the Dolphins have lost some players but 30 shots worth......unsure??!

If the Kookaburra's can't win this then it's a harder ask against the top sides for the season & thats not saying they have an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. Basso were edged by a single shot against Mossies, whereas, Gosnells were hammered by double scores, so the likelihood is Basso should win this & were close last year in R4 where they won 2.5 rinks & still just dropped the Agg.
Gosnells have won a game where Basso have not but Basso have probably played the better games over the first 4 rounds with some very tight results not going their way & they played the better sides so there's a reasonable amount of confidence in the Lions & considering their top side is humming at the moment then why not. Basso for the 1st win of the season.
