We are not seeing too many changes this week with some good ins across the board. It’s a big weekend for a few of the bottom sides but the table is that bunched the poor predictor machine will easily have the toughest ever year putting results together.
For those who are new readers or unaware, we try to rev’up the auld predictor machine every year after R6. We’ve done it annually for many years now & it’s super exciting. To set some context, we enter every single remaining game to R18 into a complex algorithm of AI induced special formulas, based on scoring patterns, skippers performance over the last 50yrs, weather movements & global warning. Or we may like to do that but end up getting a carton of piss & randomly scoring all games, who knows?! However the result weirdly produces a ridiculously accurate prediction for final R18 standing & yes we do individually assess every single game to R18 for every team to try to have some fun. It’s takes a lot of work to get it completed but we’ll certainly aim to have it up for next Thursday.

Eagles last home game was a demolition of Gosnells by double scores but this will be a different proposition against a Reds side who have lost the 2 away games so far but not by a huge margin.
A little local rivalry should give this a touch of spice but can the Reds get under their skin enough to upset the apple cart, maybe, as Manning can get a little sensitive when under pressure but if the Eagles can get Carey onto Wishart in a 1st v 2nd skippers ladder head to head then it’s Manning with breathing room.

The Saints had some slow starting rinks join the winners circle last week & they’ll need to build on that here as some rinks can’t always carry the heavy burden.
North Beach probably haven’t shown enough away to call trends as 3 of 5 were home games so far. Those away games were ok, enough to give them hope on neutral greens. However, Saints have shown more than enough to think they can grab 7pts as they have a tough run to Xmas.

Gosnells got a great Agg last week in a huge game for survival but this will be a few gears higher than that matchup.
The Titans probably can’t say there’s a real dominant rink away for them as 3 of the 4 are matching up well enough. There’s still that leaky 4th rink that the Kookaburras could expose & you’d think they’d need to if they were to grab the Agg here. The Titans know these are the away ones they can grab so dropping this would have consequences.

Last v First with 23pts separating the teams, surely the Dolphins just have to show up?! A big Agg here would get Joondalup 1.5 to 2 games ahead after 6 rounds which tracks well for dreaming of a return ticket to the big dance. The Dolphins don’t have that dominant rink which gives Basso a look that if they get a jump on any rink it’s unlikely that Joondalup can counter.
What we do know is Basso have been close enough in games to easily win this one but they’ll have to let go as there’s nothing to lose. If Basso go 0-6, they’re simply gone. You may think that’s early in the piece to call but the auld predictor machine wouldn’t even start running the inputs on 0-6. The Lions would need 7 of the final 12 just to survive. Not impossible but pretty bloody close.

GAME OF THE ROUND: Great bellwether game for both sides & the comp in general. Yes the Lions dropped the guard last week for the 1st time this season & there were a few big margins in that result but they’ve a good chance to bounce back. Going well then dropping 2 in a row can spiral any momentum to date. The bounce back has to be immediate.
Similar for Mossies although they dropped their home game last round. Could they bounce back away against a top side…well the stats say no & away form also states no against top 4 sides. It’ll be a good acid test for the Lions but I fear a Lions blowout rink will put this to bed before the 15th end
