I did think pre game that Rossmoyne might pinch this first up at home but it was not to be against a dominant Kalamunda who recorded a 39 shot win. The only joy for Rossmoyne was a 2 shot victory for Craid Edson over Frank Carbone. The remaining rinks were all comfortable wins for Kalamunda including a 26 shot win from the Bill Brandsma rink which carried on their tremendous from from last season. Kalamunda confirm their status as the team to beat and Rossmoyne will be looking to bounce back in Round 2 when they travel to Thornlie.
Kardinya 96 (7) vs Thornlie 67 (1)

I noted pre game that I had not yet seen the Kardinya team. At first glance it is very strong team on paper and they look capable of challenging Kalamunda as the No 1 seed during the season. Of particular note was the inclusion of Danny Comrie who could be (should be) in the Kardinya PL side. It seems that Comrie will play one blue where he can help nurture some of the developing players like Norm Ball and Ross Knapp. They also were able to record a comfortable 29 shot win in Round 1 with wins to Danny Comrie, Brett Adams and Conn Vinci ensuring that the aggregate was never in doubt. The only bright spot for Thornlie was the win from the Slade rink over Iron man Norm Ball. Thornlie will next week take on Rossmoyne at home whilst Kardinya must travel to Forrestfield.
Warnbro 89 (7) vs Cockburn 67 (1)

Warnbro won comfortably at home as expected with a 22 shot win over newly promoted Cockburn. Whilst it was a defeat for Cockburn it was a pretty good effort given the traditional home ground dominance of Warnbro. Steve Srhoy wound back the clock with a great performance from his rink winning by 7 shots over Barry Kalinowsky. But wins from Lindsay Strange, Troy Dellar and Dr George meant a win for Warnbro. Next week Warnbro travel to Kalamunda in what should be match of the round whilst Cockburn will be looking for their first win at home when they take on Dalkeith Nedlands.
Rockingham 101 (7) vs Forrestfield 68 (1)

A great start to the season for Willetton away from home when they recorded a very comfortable win at Dalkeith. The Jesse Brown and Andrew Foster rinks were crunched by Peter Bartoshefski and and Alan Walters respectively and a ruthless Willetton demonstrated that they cannot be taken lightly this season. Martin Saunders and Darren Redeckis made sure that Dalkeith recorded 2 points at least in what was otherwise a dark day at home. Willetton play their first home game of the season against the improving Rockingham outfit and that should be a great match. Dalkeith must travel to Cockburn in search of their first win of the season.
Great start to the season for Rockingham with a solid win at home over Forrestfield. It was Bruce Edwards and Marcus Simpson doing all of the damage in what ended up being a 33 shot victory. Trent Tillemans and his rink were responsible for the sole point earned by Forrestfield who return to home this week in what should be an intriguing encounter with Kardinya. Rockingham on the road for the first time and they will be eyeing the new boys on the block as they head to Willetton.
