(David Anderson 35 - Cameron Bell 8) (Kingsley Toster 30 - James Barry 11) (Martin Nievelstein 15 - Lindsay Thorn 25) (Pieter Geus 24 - David Cosgrove 16)
I thought this one would be quite comfortable and twas indeed! The Roos return from the break and notch up the tonne to keep the View rooted to the foot of the table. Anderson and his team enjoyed the cans with their 27 shot victory over a previously impressive Bell rink and Toister with another dominant display with his 19 shot win over Barry to now be the 2nd ranked skip in the division. Geus took Cosi by 8 and the shining light for the View on the day was Prickles getting over the line by 10 over big boy Nievelstein. Wanneroo are still within striking distance of finals and I think it’s almost time to sing So Long, fair well to Doubleview.
Cambridge 81 (6) vs North Perth 70 (2)
(Garry Hawkes 19 - Markus Merz 23) (Neil Bolton 12 - Chris McKenna 24) (Nicholas Lewis 19 - Anthony Kay 11) (Scott Palmer 31 - Benjamin Horwood 12)
The Stable remains intact as the Knights defeat top of the table North Perth and close the gap to only 4 points. The two points from the visitors might come in handy in the run home and that was thanks to MC Merz’s win over Hawkes by 4 shots and The Wiz’s 12 shot win over Lord Bolton. Nick Lewis with another home win over Pommy by 8 and up step Scotty Palmer who notched an agg defining 19 shot win over the fancied Horwood foursome to secure the aggregate and another home win for the Knights. Interestingly, the Knights don’t have a skip in the top 10 in the division, so they’re obviously sharing the workload across the rinks and not relying on a single rink to get them over the line each week (Wasn’t that a nice little tidbit for you all). Pioneers still in top spot, but the chasing pack are circling…
Sorrento 78 (6) vs North Beach 76 (2)
(David Dunstan 20 - Jeffery Post 22) (Lance Martin 25 - Paul Butler 18) (Ronald Rogers 20 - Terry Jones 12) (Timothy Murray 13 - Lee Mitten 24)
Sorrento getting the job done at home against a travelling North Beach side, which was predicted, however the margin was tighter than expected. Martin getting the job done over a strong Butler rink by 8 and Rogers winning by 7 over Jones recorded a combined 15 shots up and with Jeffrey “posting” a 2 shot win over Dunstan, the 11 shot win by Mitten’s rink over Murray wasn’t quite enough to earn a desperately needed away win for North Beach and it leaves them floundering in 9th spot with some heavy lifting to do in the run home. For Sorrento, they’ll breathe a sigh of relief as they sit in 5th within striking distance of a finals spot.
Yokine 97 (7) vs Mount Lawley 70 (1)
(Paul Kelly 28 - Laurence Kelly 17) (Richard DSouza 33 - Carmelo Lenzo 9) (Shane Shaw 12 - Enda Munnelly 24) (Wayne Coffey 24 - John Cottier 20)
Yokine started the game in 9th spot and welcomed a heavily decimated Mount Lawley side to the Kennel. The old rob Peter to pay Paul when you have a PL side was evident here, however make hay while the sun shines as Yokine did. D’Souza whipped out his white glove and moonwalked all over the Lenzo rink to the tune of 24 shots and in the battle of the Kelly’s, it was Paul who made gravy over the Laurence rink with another double digit win. Coffey just fell over the line against the Cottier rink and the only shining light for the visitors was the win for Munnelly over the second best S.S in the division. This leaves Mount Lawley in 4th spot, just off the pace of a play off spot and Yokine jump out of the bottom 2, however as we know, Blue is brutal and unless you’re in 6th of above, there’s no breathing easy.
Warwick 78 (2) vs Quinns Rocks 83 (6)
(Brian Ledingham 23 - Hugh Ward 21) (Geoffrey Hinge 26 - Steve ONeill 16) (Raymond Loran 17 - Neville Costello 21) (Sean Wright 12 - Erron Martin 25)
This game looked to be a very tightly contested match with Quinns getting the job done over a gallant Warwick side. It was the almighty duo of Ledingham and Hinge who recorded 2 important points for the home side. Ledingham’s win pushes him up into the top 3 skips in the division with Hinge not too far behind in 5th. Erron Martin’s rink the biggest of the day as they won by 13 shots over the Wright rink and Shane Smith getting the win over Loran. Smith was listed as playing third before the game, not sure if this was mind games or if Smith had a niggle which he managed to wiggle out of, but he had a giggle and is now top of the skip ladder. Quinns now in 3rd in a tight top half of the table as Warwick drop down to 7th with some work to do.
