Sorry we've missed a few reviews lately, work has been hectic & we had predicted that this round won't go ahead due to heat back in R6 so that prediction went out the window even if it was close. Next weekend looks ok too so once we get past R13 we should be good to assume that we'll get all 18 games in this season for the first time in a few years.
With the season moving very quick R12 is nearly upon us already. 2/3's of the way through & time for serious bowls but also time for the auld predictor machine to get rev'd up for 1 last run for this season. Let's see how close our R6 predictions are tracking as the focus narrows for the final 6 games.
Victoria Park Carlisle 92 (7) vs Mosman Park 80 (1)
(Geoffrey White 25 - Steven Swanson 20) (Graeme Wishart 24 - Mitchell Cranswick 20) (Lee Such 23 - Lisa Featherby 18) (Michael Simms 20 - Cameron Hoffman 22)
The Reds halted their 3 losses in a row last Round & now built off the back of that with 2 wins in a row to get them moving up the ladder. They needed these 2 wins massively & although still in the danger zone they are within a few good weeks of getting into safety.
Mossies stay 6th with a little breathing room to 7th but it;s still only 3 wins from the last 7 for them so they'll need to work out this away form if they have any chance of Finals or even avoiding play-offs.
(Alan Heal 19 - Neville Stevens 15) (Michael Carey 21 - Jeremy Thomas 22) (Paul Smith 22 - Mark Rollings 18) (William Fraser 27 - Pamela Chalmers 14)
Strong result for the Eagles as they just hang onto 7th spot with a gap to Mossies. They need a lot more of these results to get to safety & it won't be easy with their run home. Only their 4th win of the season in R11 talks to itself on what they need to do in the last 1/3 of the season.
The Saints could be top if they won this one & they are travelling very well with only 1 loss from the last 6 before R11. They remain in a Finals spot but as always its very close up & down from 4th. Back home next week for a game they should win easily might see them top by R12.
Result: Mannings 7 - 1
Prediction: Manning 6 - 2
Cockburn 111 (7) vs Joondalup 72 (1)
(Marc Abonnel 28 - Shane Ernest Rixom 18) (Michael Simunovic 34 - Jon Hunter 15) (Tony Krajancic 29 - James Groves 18) (William Tepania 20 - James Buchanan 21)
High scoring game for the Titans with big numbers bouncing around all rinks. Roosters putting up 111 shots against any side is impressive but against a top side is a worry for the Dolphins. The Titans are sitting 3rd & still within a strong chance of Finals & even the ticket to the big dance but that would need some away wins.
Joondalup are back to 2nd spot & are looking fairly shaky at the moment with only 2 wins from the last 5 games. They'll need to step it up a few levels if they dream of a return to PL. They'll get a chance its just whether they can take it.
Result: Cockburn 7 - 1
Prediction: Cockburn 7 - 1
Gosnells 72 (1) vs Leeming 84 (7)
(Daniel Newton 16 - James Newton 22) (Eoghan Gahan 17 - James Bowden 20) (Glenn Lynch 28 - Gary Ford 18) (Rue Bishop 11 - Karl Vandersluys 24)
We fancied Gosnells could pull the rabbit out of the hat against a Lions side that are humming at the moment but it wasn't to be. The home side kept it close but just didn't have the firepower to roll the form team in the comp. With the Reds winning now there's a gap to 8th which isn't what Gosnells needed & they'll need all the luck from here.
Leeming have only lost 1 from the last 6 games as they rocket up into the top spot & dream of the good old days in 1 Red. They probably deserve the position as nobody has really stood up to take control of 1 White this season. As they will learn sometimes being at the top isn't as easy as you think as the target will be firmly on their backs over the next few weeks. Let's see how they handle the pressure.
Result: Cockburn 7 - 1
Prediction: Cockburn 7 - 1
Bassendean 85 (7) vs North Beach 70 (1)
(Butch Dinnison 22 - Gavin Crosthwaite 15) (Jovan Krstic 18 - Michael Sweeney 22) (Neil Strachan 22 - Steve Wood 17) (Stein Davies 23 - Mark Douthie 16)
Massive win for the home side & this is probably the last winnable game North Beach had to grab an away win for the season. The Lions are now only 9pts off playoffs & yes that's a lot coming into the final 3rd of the season but amazingly after going 0-7 they have won 3 from the last 4 games. It's a strange old game.
North Beach are back to 5th with a foot from Finals & Playoffs. It will be difficult to get to Finals if they don't get an away win for the remainder of the season but we can't see that happening over the next few weeks. They have 2 of the next 3 games away so they'll have their chance but dropping both will leave them in a Playoffs spot & likely out of Finals contention.
