(David Anderson 18 - Andrew Jones 24) (Kingsley Toster 31 - Enda Munnelly 17) (Martin Nievelstein 23 - John Cottier 11) (Pieter Geus 17 - Laurence Kelly 15)
Wanneroo recording a strong home win against the Mounters and with that, hop into the top 3 and hitting their straps at a good time. Kingsley Toster with the biggest win of the day by 14 shots over the Irish Stallion and that takes him to 2nd on the skipper’s ladder sitting 9-3 for the season. The Big Stein got over Cottier by 12 and Geus getting another point over the Kelly rink. Part time bowler Andrew Jones picked up a point for the visitors with his win over the Anderson rink to ensure the Mounters didn’t leave empty handed, however it leaves them in the play off spots in 7th and they’ll want to regroup next week at home against North Beach.
North Beach 91 (7) vs Doubleview 75 (1)
(Jeffery Post 24 - Mark Fredericks 13) (John Bartorillo 21 - James Barry 15) (Lee Mitten 26 - Cameron Bell 25) (Paul Butler 20 - David Cosgrove 22)
The battle of the Beef was won by the home side which keep them in contention for a play off spot and keeps the pressure on Yokine and the Mounters above them. Mitten just got over the line against Bell with Bartorillo and Post registering another couple of points for the home side. Cosi pocketed the only point for the visitors as they are left on the bottom of the ladder and look to be in a very steep uphill battle to remain in blue this season.
Sorrento 75 (6) vs Quinns Rocks 72 (2)
(David Dunstan 12 - Hugh Ward 18) (Lance Martin 13 - Shane Smith 27) (Ronald Rogers 27 - Erron Martin 14) (Timothy Murray 23 - Steve ONeill 13)
Sorrento jump into 2nd spot on the ladder with somewhat of an upset win over a strong Quinns side. Sorrento were in the bottom 2 for the first handful of rounds this year so they have been very impressive and are the in form team of the division. Murray and Rogers both recording double digit wins over O’Neil and Martin was enough to out score the wins of Ward and Smith for the visitors as the Swans (or are they Sharks now) grab 6 points and after a slow start could be challenging for White. Quinns drop down to 6th and will need to start stringing some wins together again. Special mention to Shane Smith who is still number one skip with a very impressive 11-1 record this year and a 140 shots up.
Yokine 75 (1) vs North Perth 97 (7)
(Paul Kelly 26 - Benjamin Horwood 15) (Richard DSouza 16 - Markus Merz 25) (Shane Shaw 14 - Chris McKenna 26) (Wayne Coffey 19 - Brett Havercroft 31)
The ladder leaders travelled to the Kennell to take on the Doggies who have been impressive the last couple of weeks. However, the Pioneers proved too strong with 3 rinks winning by double digits. Paul Kelly with the solo point for the home side leaves them 3.5 pointe outside the beef and with some work to do. North Perth remain top, 4.5 points ahead of 2nd and have looked like the benchmark all season.
Warwick 89 (8) vs Cambridge 70 (0)
(Andrew Worthington 23 - Scott Palmer 17) (Geoffrey Hinge 20 - Neil Bolton 18) (Raymond Loran 22 - Stuart Lofthouse 19) (Sean Wright 24 - Colin Fleay 16)
The Magpies have swooped on a depleted Knights outfit and have sent them home with a donut and have soared into 4th place on the ladder. Certainly the feel good story of the season so far – can they keep going and make the finals? Only time will tell. All rinks were won by under 10 shots, so looks like a strong performance against a still very solid Cambridge outfit. Ledingam and Hinge both in the top 4 on the skipper’s table and are leading their team gallantly. Cambridge are bumbled out of the top 4 sitting in 5th and with a few PL players missing, they’re going to have to lean on others to get them through the rest of the season.
