An amazing weekend in Blue South - we have a new ladder leader in Kardinya following the surprise defeat at home of Kalamunda. The bottom of the ladder has also tightened following wins to Warnbro, Forrestfield and Dalkeith. Let’s have a quick look at the results:
Kalamunda 72 (1) vs Dalkeith Nedlands 77 (7)
(Dwayne Wooltorton 14 - Martin Saunders 23) (Frank Carbone 17 - Andrew Foster 18) (Wayne Olive 17 - Darren Redeckis 22) (William Brandsma 24 - Jesse Brown 14)
I did think that this fixture could be a lot closer than ladder positions suggested and so it turned out to be. The Brandsma rink continued their superb form however wins to Martin Saunders, Darren Redeckis and Andrew Foster allowed Dalkeith to secure the aggregate and 7 valuable points. Dalkeith surge to 7th place on the ladder and Im pretty sure their highest position so far this season. For Kalamunda top spot which has been pretty much their’s for the whole season is now gone. They will need to travel to Rockingham next week looking to get things back on track. Dalkeith back at home against Warnbro and looking to make it 3 wins on the trot.
Warnbro 98 (7) vs Rossmoyne 58 (1)
(Barry Kalinowsky 13 - Reza Vind 20) (Dennis Pattullo 34 - Craig Edson 9) (George Jackson 23 - Allan Petchell 16) (Troy Dellar 28 - Rawley Lang 13)
Great win at home for Warnbro after a couple of disappointing weeks.Strong wins to Dr G, Troy Dellar and Mr Bowls, Dennis Patullo enabled a comfortable win and 7 valuable points. A great win from Reza over Kalinowsky allowed Rossmoyne to secure at least one point. Warnbro now have some hope but they will probably need an away win if they are to give themselves a chance to get out of the bottom 2. Next week against fellow bottom 4 side Dalkeith would be a good time to start. Rossmoyne on the road again taking on another bottom 4 side in Forrestfield. Like Warnbro, Rossmoyne also need an away win to give themselves a chance as well to avoid the danger zone. Some interesting matches next week.
Cockburn 93 (8) vs Rockingham 50 (0)
(Denis Bandy 23 - Marcus Simpson 12) (James Wylie 21 - Lindsay Atkins 12) (Peter Burgess 28 - Bruce Edwards 13) (Steve Srhoy 21 - Mark Devenny 13)
Massive result for Cockburn with an 8 nil thrashing of Rockingham. The big winner for Cockburn was the Peter Burgess rink by 15 shots over the well performed Edwards rink. I hope the Cockburn selectors note this and resist the temptation to make changes to a winning combination. For Rockingham it has been a couple of weeks to forget and not sure where they go from here. But the good news is that they still hold down 3rd spot and are back at home next week to take on Kalamunda. So No 2 vs No 3 on the ladder next week with big ramifications for end of season ladder positions.
This result also caught somewhat by surprise with the ever consistent Willetton failing to register a point vs Kardinya at home. A great result though for Kardinya and they shoot straight to the top of the ladder as a result of Kalamunda’s defeat. Ever since the Henley/Flintoff combination came to town things have been on the up for Kardinya. They recorded a pretty comfortable win over the Girvan rink which is generally not easy to do. Kardinya at home next week to Cockburn whilst Willetton off to Thornlie in what will be another important match for both sides.
Forrestfield & Districts 89 (6) vs Thornlie 71 (2)
(Glenn Sewell 16 - Mark Separovich 21) (Jarad Weppner 19 - Robert Carruthers 23) (Rhys Tillemans 31 - Owen Perryman 14) (Trent Tillemans 23 - Mark Forrester 13)
Forrestfield did what they needed to do by defeating Thornlie at home 6-2. Rhys Tillemans recorded the win of the day with a 17 shot win over Owen Perryman. Forrestfield jump to 8th position on the ladder and are now just 2 points off Thornlie in 6th. So all still to play for over the next 6 matches. Forrestfield at home again next week and they will really be looking to capitalise in a match against fellow bottom 4 side, Rossmoyne. Thornlie head back to more comfortable terrain where they must take on 5th placed Willetton. Another huge clash and looking forward to Round 13 already.
