(David Anderson 26 - Raymond Loran 17) (Kingsley Toster 27 - Graeme Smith 15) (Martin Nievelstein 20 - Glenn Yabuka 18) (Pieter Geus 17 - Brian Ledingham 23)
The Roo boys getting the job done here to keep the pressure on the ladder leaders. Toster with the biggest win of the day with his 12 shot victory over Smith and remains the second best performing rink in the division. Anderson and Big Nev picking up another 2 rinks beating Loran and Yakuba and Prime Time Ledingham wins again over Geus by 6 and now sits third on the skip ladder. Wanneroo have all but secured a top 3 finish and Warwick will now focus on staying above the dreaded 7th position.
North Beach 87 (7) vs Cambridge 69 (1)
(Garry Barr 29 - Neil Bolton 16) (John Bartorillo 12 - Garry Hawkes 28) (Lee Mitten 22 - Nicholas Lewis 13) (Paul Butler 24 - Scott Palmer 12)
North Beach picked up a very handy 7 points here to stay in touch with 8th and attempt the great escape. They are still in 9th position, however are ready to pounce on any slip ups from Yokine in 8th. Cambridge slip up for the second week in a row and from being a finals favourite early in the season, they now look destined to defend a challenge from below. Barr, Mitten and Butler all with comfortable wins with Hawkes picking up an important away point for the Knights.
Sorrento 99 (7) vs Yokine 81 (1)
(David Dunstan 29 - Wayne Coffey 21) (Lance Martin 26 - Jeffrey West 15) (Richard Bone 23 - Shane Shaw 19) (Ronald Rogers 21 - Richard DSouza 26)
Sorrento have all but assured a top 3 finish with this win, with the top 3 creating a buffer to the chasing pack. Huge achievement for the Swans who didn’t look the part the first few rounds. Dunstan, Martin and Bone getting the 3 rink wins with “cough once” D’Souza getting the away point for the Doggies. Yokine need to keep winning to ward off the challenge from below and even escape the bottom 4 if other results go their way.
Mount Lawley 69 (1) vs North Perth 90 (7)
(Andrew Jones 15 - Benjamin Horwood 21) (John Cottier 17 - Chris McKenna 26) (Michael Erceg 19 - Markus Merz 26) (Phillip Park 18 - Anthony Kay 17)
The Pioneers sent a huge message to the competition and stamped their authority on the division with a fantastic away win at the Mounting Yard. North Perth have been top all season and showed why as they recorded a convincing away win and held on to pole position. Happy Gilmore McKenna got the cans with his 9 shot win over the Cottier rink, Hot Potato Merz beat the Erceg by 7 and Horwood reminded everyone of his calibre with a 6 shot win over “Prickles is on the phone” Jones. Phil the Thrill picked up an important rink win over Anthony “Short Shorts” Kay to keep Mounters in the top 4, however the top 3 looks very far away – much further away than 7th so they will need to keep winning to avoid playing off. North Perth will be playing finals, but will have their minds fully focused on top spot to avoid having to challenge above.
Doubleview 61 (0.5) vs Quinns Rocks 89 (7.5)
(Cameron Bell 16 - Hugh Ward 16) (David Cosgrove 16 - Steve ONeill 25) (James Barry 19 - Derek Richmond 22) (Lindsay Thorn 10 - Shane Smith 26)
Its now official, Doubleview will be playing 2nd division next season. Cameron Bell has been a shining light in a disappointing season for the team, but could only manage half a point against the Mullet. O’Neill and Richmond with good wins over Cosi and Barry and Shane Smith got the cans again over Prickles and is primed to take out the top skip role this season. Quinns are in that group of 4th – 8th on the ladder and it’s a question of who will need to defend a challenge and who will finish 4th – 6th. Every point matters for that pack and it’ll be one hell of a final couple of rounds.
