Kalamunda taking care of business against Forrestfield on a Friday night with a comfortable victory and 7 points. With Kardinya’s defeat the following day Kalamunda find themselves 7.5 points clear in top spot and automatic promotion seemingly all locked up. Strong wins to Wooltorton, Carbone and Brandsma helped secure the victory and it was the rink of Glenn Sewell that helped secure the loan point for Forrestfield. With that defeat Forrestfield drop from 6th to 9th and have a must win match next week against Warnbro at home. Kalamunda travel to Willetton in what will be a very important fixture for both teams.
Warnbro 93 (7) vs Thornlie 88 (1)
(Barry Kalinowsky 24 - Daniel Slade 20) (Dennis Pattullo 20 - Jim Stean 30) (George Jackson 27 - Michael McGann 18) (Troy Dellar 22 - Robert Carruthers 20)
Warnbro managed to secure an important home victory and 7 points against a galant Thornlie side on the weekend. In the end there was only a 5 shot difference in the aggregate but strong wins to Dr G and Kalinowsky got the home side a win. Jim Stean did his best with a 10 shot win over Mr Bowls, Dennis Patullo but it was not enough for Thornlie. The Thornlie season now on life support however the get their opportunity at home next week against Dalkeith in a must win match. Warnbro improve their position but are far from safe and must travel to Forrestfield in what should be a great battle.
Cockburn put Willetton to the sword on the weekend with a very comfortable 44 shot victory an 7 valuable points. This puts the Cockburn side up into 3rd position and a great opportunity to play in the promotion finals. The rinks of Wylie, Brotherston and Srhoy all recorded strong wins and it was only a win from Alan Walters by the narrowest of margins that enabled Willetton to secure 1 point. Willetton back at home next week but face the challenge of taking on the ladder leaders Kalamunda whilst Cockburn have a follow up home fixture against Rossmoyne where the will fancy their chances.
Dalkeith Nedlands 73 (6) vs Kardinya 72 (2)
(Andrew Foster 18 - Ross Knapp 19) (Darren Redeckis 21 - Norm Ball 14) (Jesse Brown 21 - John Rochford 20) (Martin Saunders 13 - Darryl Flintoff 19)
Well this one was a nail biter for both teams. Dalkeith trying to edge closer towards safety and Kardinya looking to maintain the pressure on Kalamunda for top spot. In the end it was Dalkeith who poked their nose out at the death to get over the line and secure 6 valuable points. A strong from the Redeckis rink helped Dalkeith to carry the aggregate despite the best efforts from the strong Flintoff rink who also recorded a good win. Dalkeith face another all important fixture next week against Thornlie whilst Kardinya face Rockingham at home.
Rossmoyne 80 (6) vs Rockingham 62 (2)
(Anthony Churcher 15 - Mark Devenny 16) (Craig Edson 26 - Lindsay Atkins 11) (Rawley Lang 17 - Marcus Simpson 20) (Reza Vind 22 - Bruce Edwards 15)
Rossmoyne did what they needed to do with a solid 6-2 win over Kardinya on the weekend and jump back into 6th position. Reza Vind who needed to pass a concussion test in Mayor Lang’s office prior to the game to play in this one along with Craig Edson did the heavy lifting for Rossmoyne. However Rossmoyne should not get too comfortable as they travel to the Cockburn graveyard next week. Rockingham who are still in with a chance at 3rd spot face another difficult away assignment at Kardinya next week.
