(Enda Munnelly 14 - Michael Golding 24) (John Cottier 16 - Kingsley Toster 22) (Laurence Kelly 19 - David Anderson 13) (Phillip Park 24 - Martin Nievelstein 25)
The Roos hopped down Wanneroo Road for the top of the table clash against the Mounters. Golding and Toster doing most the damage winning by 10 and 8 respectively and with Nievelstein beating the dangerous Park rink by 1, it was enough to outdo the efforts by the Kelly rink who won by 6 over Anderson. Wanneroo remain the only undefeated team in the division and have flexed their muscles and sent a strong message out to the comp that they’re going to be the ones to beat this year. Mount Lawley left to do some soul searching, and it doesn’t get any easier next week when they travel to the feared home turf of North Beach. Wanneroo host Quinns next week in the battle of the North.
Doubleview 78 (6) vs North Beach 61 (2)
(Brandon Heta 15 - Terry Jones 20) (James Barry 27 - Jeffery Post 10) (Lindsay Thorn 19 - Ed Retallack 20) (Mark Fredericks 17 - Paul Butler 11)
Doubleview breathe a big sigh of relief as they record their first win of the season against the travelling North Beach. They’d be pleased to see that even with Damon Heta’s brother and Prickles losing, they still managed to record the W with James Barry getting up by 17 over Post and Fredericks winning by 6 over Butler. Retallack and Jones recording 2 points for the visitors which isn’t bad fishing. North Beach will head back home with some confidence next week as the View have another home game against Warwick where they will look to go two on the trot.
Quinns Rocks 89 (6) vs Sorrento 72 (2)
(Derek Richmond 30 - Ronald Rogers 15) (Hugh Ward 14 - Timothy Murray 21) (Shane Smith 31 - Ian Linford 15) (Steve ONeill 14 - David Dunstan 21)
This was one was a bit closer than I thought but still another home win for Quinns against a gallant Sorrento. Shane Smith continues on his merry way with another dominant win over Linford and Richmond also with a solid 15 shot win over Rogers. Tim Murray returned to the side and picked up a point against Ward and Dunstan with a good win over Steve O’Neill. Sorrento would be pleased with their efforts on the road and Quinns bag another 6 points at home and remain in the top 3 on the table.
North Perth 90 (8) vs Yokine 60 (0)
(Anthony Kay 24 - Shane Shaw 19) (Benjamin Horwood 24 - Ian Cooper 9) (Chris McKenna 25 - Wayne Coffey 20) (Markus Merz 17 - Martin Sharp 12)
Well, I called a donut this week, but not in this game. The mighty Pioneers bounced back after their surprise loss last week and recorded a dominant 8-0 30 shot victory over the Doggies. Benny Horwood doing most of the damage with his 15 shot win over Cooper, with the other three rinks winning by 5 each. North Perth jump into 2nd on the table and Yokine slip into the bottom 3. The rejigging of the rinks looked to be a good move for the Pioneers, not so much for Yokine who will need to find the right balance soon.
Cambridge 72 (6) vs Warwick 53 (2)
(David Jones 21 - Allan Hornby 12) (Garry Hawkes 12 - Brian Ledingham 17) (Neil Bolton 26 - Sean Wright 10) (Nicholas Lewis 13 - Geoffrey Hinge 14)
Finally, Cambridge recorded this expected win against the newly promoted Warwick, however the Maggies would be pleased to pick up 2 valuable points at a difficult place to visit. In a very low scoring game, Ledingham and Hinge turned back the clock recording wins over Hawkes and the dangerous Lewis rink, while Bolton and Jones both recorded big wins over Wright and Hornby to keep the agg safe and ensure the win. Cambridge head to the kennel next week for an exciting game whilst Warwick travel to Doubleview in an important game for both sides.
