(David Foulsham 22 - Daniel Hartzer 19) (Garry Hawkes 14 - Callum Arnold 24) (Peter Easom 18 - Patrick Daley 24) (Stephen Buckley 23 - Brody Dix 25)
Yanchep finally crack the away hoodoo and slam the door on Cambridge
Yanchep have finally done it — a long-awaited win away from home — and in the process they’ve all but shut the curtains on Cambridge’s hopes of surviving in First Division. The Knights now sit three aggregates behind eighth with just six rounds to play, while Yanchep climb into a very handy second spot in their first season at the top level.
Foulsham gave Cambridge something to cheer about early, pinching a home point with a tight win over the fancied Hartzer rink — but it was all downhill from there. Arnold continued his purple patch with a 10-shot clinic over Hawkes to move into second-best rink in the comp. Daley returned to the winners list with a solid win over Easom, and Dix stiffed Buckley by two to seal a massive result for the visitors.
Yanchep now look to consolidate their ladder position when they host Sorrento next week at home.
Morley 86 (6) vs Bassendean 71 (2)
(Andrew Elmer 18 - Butch Dinnison 21) (Christopher Bell 31 - Neil Strachan 15) (Ian Eichfuss 23 - John Holman 15) (Victor Orchard 14 - Grant Stokes 20)
Morley make it two on the trot and keep the dream alive
Two in a row for Morley and suddenly the season is breathing again after a very impressive win over the Lions. Butch and Stoker grabbed the two away points for the visitors, but that was as good as it got.
Big Stick Eichfuss delivered when it mattered and Bell absolutely turned it on, smashing Strachan by 16 shots to secure the aggregate and lift Morley out of the bottom two. They now sit just one aggregate off sixth — and survival is very much back on the menu.
Mount Lawley 59 (1.5) vs Ellenbrook 87 (6.5)
(Andrew Jones 18 - Michael L Ryan 16) (Enda Munnelly 18 - Josef Rollnik 18) (Laurence Kelly 9 - Aaron Cole 30) (Michael Erceg 14 - Robert Ball 23)
Brook Boys raid the Mounting Yard
The Mounters welcomed the Brook Boys to the Mounting Yard knowing they’d hit some form of late — and with Mount Lawley looking scratchy, this one was always going to be a danger game.
Munnelly and Rollnik couldn’t be split, and AJ defended his home turf with a solid win over Ryan. But after that, it all went pear-shaped. Robbie “Evergreen” Ball rolled back the years, beating Erceg by nine, and poor Kelly was walking on hot coals all day as Cole handed him a brutal 21-shot hiding.
A devastating home loss for the Mounters and Ellenbrook close the gap to just 4.5 points. The Brook Boys are on the rise and almost out of trouble — Mount Lawley, meanwhile, need to find something fast or they’ll be playing off to stay in First Division.
Quinns Rocks 119 (8) vs Warwick 68 (0)
(Hugh Ward 27 - Glenn Yabuka 14) (Shane Smith 33 - Geoffrey Hinge 23) (Steve ONeill 31 - Raymond Loran 14) (Warrick Ferris 28 - Sean Wright 17)
Quinns send a brutal statement
Statement made. The Quinns boys produced a demolition job, winning by a staggering 50+ shots and sending the Maggies home with a donut for the nest — and knocking them off top spot in the process.
Top skip from last season Smith continued his ridiculous run, beating Hinge by 10 — what a two-season stretch he’s put together. Things only got uglier for Warwick as Ferris took down Wright by 11, The Mullet gave Yabbie a 13-shot joyride, and the cans went to O’Neil who absolutely decimated Loran by 17.
Quinns jump into third and serve a gentle reminder they are not to be taken lightly. Warwick drop out of the top three and will be desperate to bounce back.
Sorrento 78 (1) vs Wanneroo 87 (7)
(Brad Wicks 32 - Pieter Geus 13) (Lance Martin 12 - Derek Griffin 28) (Richard Bone 17 - Kingsley Toster 21) (Ronald Rogers 17 - David Anderson 25)
Wanneroo go top as Sorrento slide towards the trapdoor
Poor Sorrento — it’s starting to unravel. Another loss sees them drop into the bottom two and staring down the barrel.
Wicks fought gallantly with a massive 19-shot win over Geus, but he was left flying solo. Griffin thumped big Lance by 16, Toster didn’t throw Richard a bone with a four-shot win, and Anderson beat Rogers by eight to seal it.
Wanneroo go top and have timed their run perfectly. Sorrento, meanwhile, look destined for Second Division next year.
