(Arthur Bartlett 19 - Robert Ball 20) (Butch Dinnison 31 - Michael L Ryan 12) (Jovan Krstic 23 - Josef Rollnik 15) (Neil Strachan 23 - Aaron Cole 27)
The Lions roar back into the jungle and put a halt to the Brook Boys’ charge. It wasn’t all one-way traffic though. Ball edged Bartlett by a single shot and Cole proved too hot to handle for Strachan, banking a tidy 4-shot win to steal an away point.
But then the big guns rolled in. Buckets returned to the helm and promptly pocketed an 8-shot win over Rollin’ Joe, while the Butcher rocketed to the top of the skip ladder with a brutal 19-shot demolition of Ryan to pick up the cans.
Ellenbrook cling to 8th and remain within an aggregate of the Lions in 6th. It’s shaping as a two-horse scrap between them and Morley for that precious safety spot.
Morley 62 (1) vs Warwick 83 (7)
(Andrew Elmer 23 - Raymond Loran 19) (Christopher Bell 13 - Geoffrey Hinge 17) (Ian Eichfuss 14 - Glenn Yabuka 23) (Victor Orchard 12 - Sean Wright 24)
The red-hot Noranda boys welcomed the Maggies knowing a home win would — unbelievably — put them sniffing around finals contention. Warwick, after looking silky early in the season, have cooled slightly but desperately needed the win to stay in touch with the top three.
Unfortunately for the home crowd, Andy “Shirts” Elmer was the only one who clocked in — beating Loran by 4. From there? Curtains.
Hinge slammed the door on Bell ringing in a 4 shot win, Yakuba clubbed Eichfuss by 9, and Wright absolutely juiced Orchard to the tune of 12. Warwick now sit just half a point outside the top three, while Morley will be hunting down the Lions and Mounters to dodge a survival playoff.
Mount Lawley 84 (2) vs Wanneroo 89 (6)
(Andrew Jones 25 - David Anderson 19) (Enda Munnelly 25 - Kingsley Toster 18) (John Cottier 20 - Derek Griffin 22) (Michael Erceg 14 - Pieter Geus 30)
Back the Mounters at your own risk. They’ve been the bookie’s retirement fund this year. After sky-high expectations, they’ve delivered more heartbreak than highlights.
Hosting ladder-leaders Wanneroo, it actually looked like a close contest. AJ and his merry men knocked off Anderson by 6, and the Irish Stallion held firm to beat a strong Toster rink by 7.
For the visitors, Griffin recorded a 4-shot win over Cottier, but it was the Geus rink who brought the hammer — a 16-shot demolition to seal the aggregate and break Mount Lawley hearts yet again.
Wanneroo stay perched on top. The Mounters? Finals look a stretch. At this stage it’s about steering clear of the playoff trap — though with my tipping record this year, they’ll probably win the flag now.
Quinns Rocks 95 (7) vs Yanchep 57 (1)
(Hugh Ward 20 - Callum Arnold 12) (Shane Smith 15 - Daniel Hartzer 16) (Steve ONeill 34 - Brody Dix 11) (Warrick Ferris 26 - Teora Turua 18)
Quinns with a big statement here, standing their ground and bringing the new boys back down to Earth.
Dan Hartzer edged the Smith rink by 1 — which usually spells danger for Quinns. But this time, the cavalry arrived.
The Mullet from the North knocked Arnold off his throne by 8. Ferris handed new skip Turua an 8-shot lesson. And O’Neill… well… he pounded Dix for 21 ends and walked away with a 23-shot thumping
Both sides remain entrenched in the top three and will now be scoreboard-watching Warwick for the run home.
Sorrento 81 (7.5) vs Cambridge 63 (0.5)
(Ian Linford 19 - Peter Easom 15) (Lance Martin 19 - David Foulsham 19) (Richard Bone 24 - Garry Hawkes 13) (Ronald Rogers 19 - Stephen Buckley 16)
The cellar-dwellers clash had real stakes for Sorrento, a loss here and they’d be destined for 2nd division.
Linford beat Easom by 4, Rogers edged Buckley by 3, and Bone picked up the cans with an 11-shot win over Hawkes. Martin and Foulsham couldn’t be split, so the Knights snuck away with half a point — though still welded to the bottom of the ladder and staring down Division 2 next season.
