(Darren Redeckis 15 - Paul Brotherston 22) (Jesse Brown 17 - Denis Bandy 23) (Martin Saunders 17 - Steve Srhoy 22) (Michael Yates 18 - John Wray 24)
Another huge upset with Cockburn comprehensively out playing a disappointing Dalkeith side on the weekend. Cockburn bank 8 points and now back with a real chance of getting out of the bottom 2 spots come the end of the season. Led by the return of the indefatigable Steve Srhoy it looked pretty comfortable on all rinks with Dalkeith not really firing a shot after some promising recent form. I was just thinking how many Saturday pennant matches Srhoy would have played over the years – it must be well North of 1,000 games , an amazing achievement and it would not surprise if the “Champ” actually knew the exact total!
Kardinya 78 (6) vs Rockingham 73 (2)
(Aaron Gale 14 - Bruce Edwards 19) (Conn Vinci 20 - Mark Devenny 22) (Garry Knight 19 - Bradley Cole 18) (John Rochford 25 - Zac Boddy 14)
The Kardy boys did what they needed to do in defeating an improved Rockingham side on the weekend. John Rochford helped carry the aggregate with a big win over Zac Boddy to keep the Kats within touching distance of ladder leaders Armadale. The other 3 rinks were all very close suggesting a match that went right down to the wire. Rockingham after some below par form should be pleased with this effort and will be looking to finish off the season with some strong results.
Rossmoyne 91 (6) vs Safety Bay 64 (2)
(Anthony Churcher 14 - Ron Hall 16) (Craig Edson 20 - David Holt 27) (David Horniman 32 - Steven Adams 10) (Wayne Heldt 25 - Raymond Clark 11)
Another very comfortable for the form side of the competition, Rossmoyne on the weekend. David Horniman did most of the damage with a strong 22 shot win over Steven Adams. They are now within touching distance of 3rd place in what should be a battle royale to finish off the season. Safety Bay did not walk away empty handed however and managed to secure an important 2 points to keep themselves mid table. Both sides with a lot to play for over the final 4 weeks.
South Perth 113 (8) vs Gosnells 55 (0)
(John Carter 23 - Eoghan Gahan 22) (Neale Griffin 35 - Mark Beauchamp 12) (Steve Kelly 28 - Michael Rickard 11) (Wayne Bezant 27 - Kelvin Pearce 10)
Strong win at home for South Perth with an easy 8 nil win over bottom of the table Gosnells side. The rinks of Griffin, Kelly and Bezant were all easy victors in what must surely consign Gosnells to 2nd division next season. South Perth back in 3rd place and they will be desperate to hold onto this position come the end of the season in order to get access to the One White grade next season.
Willetton 58 (1.5) vs Armadale 91 (6.5)
(Alan Walters 20 - Stewart Gosstray 20) (Cameron Girvan 24 - Kevin McKay 11) (Gavin Dodge 10 - Eddie Gollan 26) (Justin Wright 4 - Daniel Brown 34)
Armadale with a strong away from home win over Willetton on the weekend. Led by comfortable wins from Gollan and Brown meant 6.5 points although Willetton still walked away with 1.5 points courtesy of Girvan and Walters. More work still to do over the final 4 matches for Armadale if they are to secure top spot but they would be heavy favourite in markets to get the job done. Willetton still within touching distance of safe ground with every point vital over the next 4 weeks.
