Its now a 5 horse race for the finals and who will they be and in what order is anyone’s guess. The premiers and the Knights are sharing top spot but Mt Lawley and the Eagles get the coming week off. Doubleview make it back to back wins for the first time this season and the Lions finals hopes are over. Lets go through the results.
The biggest win of the season with the Knights thumping Sorrento. The duck egg win gets them equal on top and a real chance to go out right leaders if they can get over Doubleview next round. Sorrento 12 points clear of the beef but face another tough one as they head to Osborne Park.
Cockburn 68 (2) vs Mount Lawley 75 (6)
(Jordan King 18 - Corey Bessant 15) (Marc Abonnel 14 - Jack East 15) (Michael Simunovic 14 - Daniel Trewhella 29) (Tony Krajancic 22 - Ben Leggett 16)
Mt Lawley getting the job done but certainly wasn’t convincing. They will have to see what happens next week as they went down to the Eagles in their round 15 clash. Cockburn another close encounter but are on the wrong side once again and face a tough challenge next up when they head to Sth Perth.
Doubleview 99 (7) vs Bassendean 74 (1)
(Anthony Williams 26 - Simon Alden 25) (Bradley White 17 - Ruairi Kenyon 18) (Charles Slavich 30 - Wesley Neilson 14) (John Slavich 26 - Stein Davies 17)
The View make it back to back wins with a 25 shot win over the Lions. The win sees them safe for at least the challenge game and maybe even a chance of finishing 6th if they can get over the in form Knights next round. The season has fallen apart from the Lions even though they should be safe but would want to take care of Leeming next up.
Leeming 62 (0) vs South Perth 101 (8)
(James Bowden 18 - Justin Opie 21) (Jim Newton 15 - Ross Bresland 19) (Lionel Mundri 12 - Paul Davies 33) (Paul Hickey 17 - Graeme Wishart 28)
The Millers still giving themselves a real good chance of a top 2 finish thrashing poor Leeming by 48 shots. They will be hoping to repeat the effort when they head back home to take on Cockburn next week. Leeming its yet another egg for them and will be looking forward to the finish line, they head to the Den next week.
Manning 74 (2) vs Osborne Park 79 (6)
(Glenn Pauling 20 - Brad Gillingham 15) (Kristina Van Nierop 14 - Dale Marsland 26) (Scott Walker 19 - Segan Pasalich 16) (Warren Holt 21 - Ryan Brown 22)
This one looked to be a nail biting finish but it was the Saints that got over the line and keeps themselves in the hunt for finals. The Saints will be hoping to continue on their run when they next host Sorrento. The Eagles did manage to beat Mt Lawley though in their round 15 fixture so they get to rest up next week.
