Bassendean 80 (7) vs Warwick 70 (1)
(Arthur Bartlett 22 - Glenn Yabuka 16) (Butch Dinnison 21 - Raymond Loran 18) (Grant Stokes 13 - Geoffrey Hinge 21) (Neil Strachan 24 - Sean Wright 15)
The Lions welcomed the Maggies to the Den in a clash dripping with consequence. Warwick came hunting to secure a top 3 finish, while Basso were scrapping to keep finals hopes alive and avoid the dreaded challenge zone.
The Lions might have me to thank for waking up old Strachany — he tore through the formidable Wright rink by 9 shots and made a statement. Any skips in need of a motivational spray can book me on Cameo… results not guaranteed, entertainment assured.
Big Butch stormed to the top of the skip ladder with a gritty 3-shot win over Loran, while Bartlett added another rink victory with a commanding performance over Ben Leggett’s mum’s cousin once removed. Hinge salvaged an away point for the visitors, but Warwick slip out of the top three and now need a strong finish to secure promotion. They do play the two top sides in the final 2 games, so they’ll be kicking themselves over recent results.
Ellenbrook 79 (7) vs Wanneroo 71 (1)
(Aaron Cole 19 - Pieter Geus 17) (Josef Rollnik 23 - Kingsley Toster 17) (Philip Moore 24 - David Anderson 16) (Robert Ball 13 - Derek Griffin 21)
Another Valley ambush from the Brook Boys — this time the ladder leaders were the victims. With Wanneroo already holding promotion to White and Ellenbrook fighting for survival, motivation levels looked… uneven.
Cole ran hot against Geus, Joe rolled Toster by 6, and Moore surged past Anderson by 8. Griffin grabbed an away point with a win over Ball, but the damage was done.
Ellenbrook sit in 8th and must win their final two to avoid a date with the challenge. Wanneroo remain top thanks to Yanchep stumbling, but the race for the minor premiership is very much alive.
Morley 87 (7) vs Yanchep 73 (1)
(Andrew Elmer 20 - Callum Arnold 19) (Christopher Bell 21 - Daniel Hartzer 18) (Ian Eichfuss 21 - Teora Turua 23) (Victor Orchard 25 - Brody Dix 13)
The Mavericks continue their late-season surge, keeping the pressure squarely on Bassendean and Mount Lawley in the fight to dodge the challenge match.
Yanchep arrived in second, dominant at home but shaky on the road — and Morley smelled blood. Elmer delivered the headline act, edging the powerful Arnold rink by 1. Bell added a tidy 3-shot win over Hartzer, Victor gave Dix a 4 hour juicing (I was hoping for this match up) winning by 12, while Turua claimed an away point for the visitors with a 2-shot victory over the Big Stick.
Yanchep still have eyes on top spot. Morley simply need to keep winning and let the chaos sort itself out.
Mount Lawley 84 (7) vs Cambridge 73 (1)
(Andrew Jones 24 - Stephen Buckley 21) (Enda Munnelly 21 - Peter Easom 18) (John Cottier 22 - David Foulsham 15) (Travis Ingram 17 - Garry Hawkes 19)
The Knights rolled into the Mounting Yard clinging to survival hopes, while the Mounters needed a win to stay clear of danger and keep promotion dreams flickering.
Enter the Moose of the Mount — prowling his home turf like the stud that he is, letting out a loud bellow which sent the opposition into a state of submission, and ultimately winning by 3 to set the tone. The returning Irish Stallion strutted past Easom by 3, and Cottier flipped the script with a strong 7-shot win over Foulsham. Hawkes snatched an away point for Cambridge with a narrow victory over Ingram.
Mount Lawley now sit 6 points behind third-placed Quinns… who they face in the final round. Circle that one in red.
Quinns Rocks 85 (6.5) vs Sorrento 67 (1.5)
(Hugh Ward 20 - Ian Linford 20) (Shane Smith 30 - Ronald Rogers 13) (Steve ONeill 17 - Lance Martin 18) (Warrick Ferris 18 - Brad Wicks 16)
Quinns slide into third spot after handling business against a struggling Sorrento outfit.
Rumblin’ Tumblin’ Smith rediscovered top gear with a statement 17-shot demolition of Rogers. Ferris chipped in with a tight win over Wicks, Ward and Linford fought to a stalemate, and Martin secured an away point for Sorrento with a one-shot win over O’Neil.
Sorrento finish the round in ninth and staring down trouble, while Quinns occupy the coveted third spot — but with traffic jammed all around them, two wins are essential to secure promotion.
