Armadale 103 (8) vs Cockburn 55 (0)
(Daniel Brown 28 - Denis Bandy 11) (Eddie Gollan 26 - Paul Brotherston 18) (Kevin McKay 18 - James Wylie 15) (Stewart Gosstray 31 - John Wray 11)
An emphatic win to our premier side in Armadale who will be chasing bigger fish next season. All rinks were very comfortable and with Skipper names like Brown, Gosstray, Gollan and McKay it is no wonder that they are sitting on top of the ladder. Cockburn would have loved to have squeezed a point of 2 just to help them in their quest to avoid relegation but unfortunately it was not to be. They will have one final opportunity next week when they take of bottom placed Gosnells where a win is a must to have any chance come round 18.
Dalkeith Nedlands 87 (6) vs Safety Bay 78 (2)
(Darren Redeckis 19 - Bruce McLean 20) (Jesse Brown 24 - Ron Hall 18) (Martin Saunders 19 - Raymond Clark 23) (Michael Yates 25 - Steven Adams 17)
Dalkeith responded well with their backs to the wall with a hard fought 6-2 win over Safety Bay. The rinks of Brown and Yates were victorious and this was enough to secure the aggregate. Dalkeith with 2 tough matches to come against Rossmoyne and Kardinya will need at least one win to get to the Challenge round post season and hold off Cockburn. Safety Bay are a bit the same, currently sitting in 6th they have Willetton right on their tales and face South Perth followed by Armadale meaning a win at home next round is a must for them.
Kardinya 75 (2) vs Rossmoyne 86 (6)
(Aaron Gale 24 - David Horniman 20) (Garry Knight 14 - Raymond Halse 20) (John Rochford 11 - Wayne Heldt 24) (Stephen Vinci 26 - Anthony Churcher 22)
This was probably somewhat of a surprise given that Kardinya always tough to beat at home but full credit to Rossmoyne with another big win. Top 3 might be a stretch for Rossmoyne but with 2 big wins to finish out the season it could still be done. Kardinya getting the staggers late in the season but will no doubt still finish off top 3 and secure promotion to One White next season. They take on Willetton next week at home and this will be a good chance to really lock away 2nd place on the ladder.
South Perth 81 (7) vs Rockingham 65 (1)
(John Carter 21 - Bruce Edwards 10) (Neale Griffin 19 - Bradley Cole 16) (Steve Kelly 18 - Victor Arriagada 22) (Wayne Bezant 23 - Mark Devenny 17)
Great win from South Perth who put themselves into pole position for 3rd place finish and promotion to One White next season. South Perth’s experience at home shone thru on the weekend with wins to Carter, Griffin and Bezant allowing for a comfortable aggregate win. That said they still have 2 tough games to finish with against Safety Bay followed by Rossmoyne so still some work to do. Next weeks clash against Safety Bay in particular will be huge for both clubs. Rockingham up against our premiers, Armadale in another tough fixture for them.
Willetton very comfortable against Gosnells on the weekend and they now have a real chance of getting out of the bottom 4 come the end of the season. They will be eyeing off wins in matches to come against Kardinya and Cockburn to help themselves to safety. For Gosnells they take on 9th placed Cockburn next week and this looks a good opportunity to secure a win and end the season on somewhat of a high.
